At the @swaayhealth Marketing Conference, I attended a session led by Sean Fitzpatrick and Chris Boggs from @overitmedia about getting found and chosen online in the age of AI. They talked about how gaining and keeping human trust is harder today, which means branding is more important than ever. The way people find businesses and search online is changing. If your brand does not clearly communicate who you are, what you do, and why you can be trusted, you are going to be harder to choose. They also talked about AISEO, or AI Search Engine Optimization, which is basically optimizing your online presence so AI tools can understand, reference, and recommend your business. Large Language Models like Claude and ChatGPT work differently than traditional search engines, but they still use search results to cross-check information, which means SEO (Search Engine Optimization) still matters too. Their top 5 recommendations for optimizing for AI search were: 1. Focus on authority topics.
Stop chasing high-volume keywords and focus on the topics where you actually deserve to be seen as an expert. 2. Write clear, helpful content.
Make your content specific, useful, and easy for both humans and AI to understand. 3. Get more conversational.
Use natural language in your headlines, FAQs, and website copy. Answer the real questions your audience is asking. 4. Use schema.
Schema helps search engines and AI better understand your website content behind the scenes. 5. Be present where AI looks for answers.
Your website matters, but so do social media, videos, community Q&As, podcasts, directories, and other trusted sources. One more thing I have to mention: their presentation slides were beautifully designed! As a designer, I always notice when someone invests in clear, engaging slides. Not only was their presentation SUPER informative, but it made complex information so much easier to understand. #swaayhealth #swaayhealthlive #shl26 #websitedesign #aiseo

At the @swaayhealth Marketing Community Conference, they had an activity called the Hotseat Shuffle. Two people sat on stage, one person asked the other a question, the person answered, then they rotated out and someone new joined in to ask a question. As many of you know, I’ve been working on public speaking and pushing myself outside my comfort zone, so of course I had to go up there! I asked Jaime, ā€œWho are you inspired by, living, dead, or fictional?ā€ The answer was hilarious and relatable: Don Draper from Mad Men. Love that show! Then we rotated, and @shanatachikawa sat down next to me. She asked what advice I would give to students who are about to graduate college. My answer was to always keep learning. The learning never stops. Things are constantly changing, and the world looks very different now than it did when I graduated. If you stay curious, stay open, and keep learning, you’ll be okay. And also, don’t be afraid to do things (like this!) that push you outside your comfort zone. Later that day, Shana and I happened to be walking back to the hotel at the same time, and she invited me to join her and her coworkers for dinner. If I hadn’t done the Hotseat Shuffle, I probably wouldn’t have met Shana. And if I hadn’t met Shana, I wouldn’t have had a group to go to dinner with that night, where I ended up meeting even more great people. Going outside your comfort zone can be uncomfortable, but sometimes it’s where the best connections happen. P.S. Thanks to @amy.oliver228 for this awesome photo! @colin.hung

I arrived at the @swaayhealth Marketing Conference not knowing a single soul. I left with 75+ new connections. As an introvert, that’s basically unheard of. šŸ˜‚ But from the moment I walked in, it felt different from any conference I’ve been to before. Everyone was so open, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. I immediately felt like I had somehow landed in the right room with the right people. I’ll be sharing a few reflections from the conference over the next few posts, but this first one is really just a thank you to the Swaay.Health Marketing Community for making it so easy to connect and feel at home. šŸ’– #swaayhealth #swaayhealthlive #shl26 #healthcare #marketing

The designer and the marks. Hi friends, I’m Rachel! šŸ‘‹šŸ» I’m a brand identity designer and founder of Composion, where I create thoughtful, strategic visual identities for mission-driven businesses in the human and animal health and wellness space. Here’s a collection of logos I’ve designed over the years, including client work, concept work, and pieces from my own creative challenges. It’s always fun to see how much story can live inside a simple mark. @logoarchive @logoarchive.now #logo #logomark #logodesinger #logodesign #branddesign

There’s a full moon tonight… and if you’ve been following me, you might know that means it’s time for MoonĀ·Lit Musings! šŸŒ• This month’s theme is ā€œBeyond the Visible,ā€ inspired by the side of the moon that we don’t see from Earth. It felt like the perfect way to talk about looking at familiar things from a new angle, like how AI is changing the way we search and find information online, what it feels like to lead from the stage instead of watch from the audience, and how a self-directed creative challenge can open up a different side of my design practice. On every full moon, I send out a Composion newsletter with design and marketing tips, business updates, project highlights, ideas, and more for health and wellness leaders. My East Coast business tour continues! I’m in Boston for the @swaayhealth conference this week. It’s my first time going to this conference and can’t wait to see what it’s all about. Looking forward to learning about how AI impacts the healthcare industry, among other things. If you’ll be there, let’s connect! #SwaayHealth #marketing #healthcare #health #ai

Can a raging introvert pursue public speaking? This weekend, I’m at @jen_gottlieb ’s Stage Leaders event. I get to spend all day today in a room full of driven people with powerful stories who are committed to using their voices to share them with the world. Over the past few months in this program, I’ve been working on my own signature speech about how health and wellness business owners can use branding, design, and messaging to stand out to their target audience. I’m excited to practice some of it on stage and refine it more today! I’m grateful to be surrounded by so many people who are choosing to push themselves out of their comfort zone in order to grow and make an impact. So, yes. A raging introvert (me) can pursue public speaking. Not because it’s easy. Because the message matters enough to push through the discomfort. #publicspeaking #stageleaders #stageleader #introvert #speaker

This piece is designed as a simple handout to help bring new people into the studio with a clear offer: first class free. Even something as small as a card like this is a chance to reinforce the brand. I wanted it to feel bold, clean, and motivating while making the message easy to understand at a glance. ā™ˆļøšŸ”„ And with that, that’s a wrap on Inner Flame, the first brand in my Brandstrology Design Challenge! Next up: Taurus. ā™‰ļø #aries #branding #pilates #fitness #graphicdesign

Here’s a snapshot of the Inner Flame website home page design! I wanted the website to feel just as bold as the rest of the identity. The goal of this (and any website!) is to make the message clear right away: what Inner Flame is, who it is for, and what action to take next. The hero line, ā€œReclaim the Flame, Step into Your Powerā€ sets the tone, followed by a short intro to the studio and a clear path to explore classes or sign up for a first class free. ā™ˆļøšŸ”„ #websitedesign #branding #pilates #fitness #brandidentity

Another piece of the Inner Flame brand system: the icon set. Iconography is one of the details that can make a brand feel trustworthy, even when people do not consciously notice it. Small elements like icons might not seem like a big deal on their own, but when they all share a consistent look and feel, they help the brand feel more cohesive. For Inner Flame, I curated a set of icons that aligns with the overall brand experience. I also created versions for both light and dark backgrounds to keep the system flexible and useful. It is often the little details that make the biggest difference! ā™ˆļøšŸ”„ #icondesign #iconography #branding #fitness #wellness

Here’s a look at the Inner Flame logomark in action on branded merch! The logomark can live beyond the main logo and still feel strong and recognizable. Seeing it applied to items like dumbbells and activewear helps bring the brand to life in a more tangible way and shows how flexible the identity system can be. Because the mark is built from layered flames that also suggest a flower and subtle ram horns, it holds onto its meaning even when it stands on its own. It still feels bold, fiery, and resilient, which is exactly what I wanted for this brand. #pilates #branding #fitness #logodesign #workout

Here’s an example of how social media imagery could look for Inner Flame. For these, I wanted to explore how the brand could show up in an inspirational or motivational way while still feeling on-brand. #branding #pilates #motivation #fitness #brandidentity
