Harkening back to common hollyโs emo days, I have the pleasure of announcing this show in Toronto, supporting old pals The Hotelier on their 10 year reunion tour. Last week, @commonholly released ๐ป๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐, an EP songwriter Brigitte Naggar describes as having wound up becoming โan antidote to a much more painstaking process that I usually engage in.โ Recorded before she had a chance to overthink the songs โ or, in some cases, even fully finish writing them โ sessions for the EP required a first-thought, best-thought approach, granting the listener a markedly more intimate and immediate glimpse into Naggarโs contemplative songwriting. โListening back I have the sense that I must have been listening to Jonathan Richman the day I wrote this,โ songwriter Brigitte Naggar explains. โI wrote it in about 5 minutes, sitting by the window, waiting for my Dyson. I was thinking about Beckett and God and the dust in my house, about places where we wait โ Montrealers will know all about the SAAQ, our finest purgatory!โ

I wrote this song a year ago sitting by the window waiting for my Dyson
Happy to report I love to vacuum
And also that an EP is coming out with odds and ends from Anything glass and other tunes to go along with them. Itโs called โThey will draw halos around our heads,โ will be out on Feb 27, and was a nice experiment in making something pretty quick and seeing what comes out (which makes me hold my breath and wince at various points but here we are.)
