This week, 17-24 May, is National Road Safety Week.
We are joining the @tacvictoria in sharing the importance of road safety this week.
Every moment matters on our roads. That means slowing down, buckling up, starting your drive well rested, planning ahead if aclohol is involved and importantly, removing distractions to stay focussed on driving.
These everyday choices add up, they protect lives and help prevent tragedies.
Pledge to drive so others survive!
“The next wave of major infrastructure investment in Geelong, particularly in transport and city‑shaping projects, has not yet been secured.
This Budget reinforces the importance of partnership between all levels of government.
With the Victorian State Election approaching, this creates an important opportunity.”

Last night we hosted our latest member event; Re-imagining the night- a guided experience in the city after dark.
Thanks to our event partners @arupgroup and @urbis_au , our guide Tim Hunt (ably assisted by Nat Anson), took attendees through the impact of light on how we experience a city after dark.
This was not just a presentation, this was an immersive experience, as attendees took place in a guided night walk through the CBD.
The experience showed there are some great examples of safe and welcoming environments in Central Geelong at night, but also some opportunities for improvement.
The Committee will take the learnings from the experience and use this to advocate for positive and impactful changes that can make the city feel even more welcoming.

In delivering the budget, Premier Jacinta Allan said “budgets are about choices”.
The choices we make today will affect the future of our city. The choices made through this year’s election campaign will also affect the future of our city.
This is why the Committee will continue its staunch advocacy for our region. As the voice of Future Geelong, we will continue to work with the Government, and all sides of politics, in ensuring the choice for investing in growth is clear. The choice is Geelong.

A strong foundation has been set for the learning and growth ahead.

By safeguarding the Circular Economy, we can unlock a spectrum of economic and environmental benefits for the entire community.”
In this month’s @geelongaddy Member Op Ed, Nick Stuhlener from Waste Services outlines why Geelong’s next chapter depends on protecting industrial land, accelerating circular economy investment and planning beyond short‑term growth pressures. As the city transitions from its manufacturing past, these decisions will be critical to securing jobs, essential services and sustainable growth for Future Geelong.

VoiceOfFutureGeelong
Today we remember all of those who have served our country.
In Geelong that is gathering at the Peace Memorial to pay our respect.
As we embrace our future, it is important to acknowledge our past.
Lest we forget.
Yesterday saw our second Geelong Tech Leaders Roundtable lunch.
The group discussed opportunities to collaborate across business, with a particular focus on recruitment of talent.
Future Geelong will require people with skills and experience that do not yet exist.
As these new jobs emerge, our power of collaboration will remain a competitive advantage, allowing Geelong to benefit from new and emerging technologies.
Connecting people and ideas.

Calling all @committeeforgeelong members:
Thanks to our event partners @arupgroup and @urbis_au we invite you to experience an interactive torch workshop through Geelong’s CBD; a hands-on experience exploring how Geelong feels, functions and performs at night.
This isn’t a typical workshop, as we walk together, you’ll begin to notice what goes unseen and how spaces shift in the dark, what makes people feel welcome or uneasy, and where the experience of Geelong after dark comes to life or falls short.
This session is designed to challenge assumptions and sharpen your perspective, offering insights grounded in real experience and directly relevant to how we plan, design and activate our city.
