🌊 On a bridge crossing the river Kennet, a small series of unexpected encounters has happened The Seven Wonders of the Waterways is a public art installation made in collaboration with @naturenurture_ 🌿 The seven wildlife species have been selected through a round of workshops with the public. 🎨 We designed illustrations for each animal, printed them on panels, and installed them along the railings of King’s Reach Bridge, creating a sequence where animals start out of the water, get back in and then out again, so it won't matter from which direction you start your walk through the bridge, the story will always make sense 🦦 The river-facing panels show the full illustrations, while the inner side allows you to scan a QR-code to learn more about the various species 🦢 If you’re nearby, take a moment to cross King’s Reach Bridge and discover the animals of the Kennet along the way #solarpunk #publicart

✏️ Before becoming a mural, The Time Travel Tunnel began as a series of sketches for composition, poses and colours that, combined with the input from the community, allowed us to define the design 📐Then, we created small models used to study how the scenes would flow along the tunnel walls Today the project has become 78 painted panels covering about 84 square meters, transforming the tunnel into a journey in time and space you can walk through 🎨🚶 #solarpunk #communitymural #publicart

📖 The story of the Katesgrove Community Mural continues. In this reel, we focus on the final scenes. ❓️ One of the stories represented here: Frederick Potts was a trooper in Gallipoli in 1915, during the first World War, when he was wounded to a leg. His friend Arthur Andrews got it even worse and found himself unable to walk. Under enemy fire, Potts could have left Andrews to his luck, instead he decided to tie his friend to his shovel and dragged him until they reached safety 🪖 In the Time Travel Tunnel you are between Potts and the safety of a rough shelter 🏚 ➡️ Find Part 1 on our profile #solarpunk #communitymural #publicart

📖 The Katesgrove Community Mural tells many stories from the area’s past. In this reel, we’re looking at the first five scenes of the mural. 🔎 Look closer at one of these scenes: The quality of the bricks created in Reading was renowned around the country 🧱 Elgar Road became an open-air showcase where brickmakers could show what they could do to potential clients 👀 You can see the artisans imagining what they would create, and today you can walk along Elgar Road and see those same unique creations, feeling like one of those clients ✨🏘️ ➡️ Part 2 coming soon #solarpunk #communitymural #publicart

Last September we spent two weeks painting this community mural at the Katesgrove Community Hub with the help of 50+ volunteers 🖌️🤝 Over those days the mural gradually came to life, with plenty of colour, lots of jazz in the background and ideas from the young artists of Katesgrove Primary School 🎷🎨 Once everything was ready, we installed the mural in the Katesgrove Underpass at County Lock over two intense days of teamwork 🚧 Huge thanks to everyone who painted, helped and supported the project, especially to Tony and Stuart for making the installation possible 🔩 #solarpunk #communitymural #publicart
