Super proud of our very on Enda Rats for coming up with this illustration and having it printed on the front cover of the Dublin Inquirer! You can catch Enda Rats and Dublin Roller Derby Saturday November 26th in Gormanstown park. If you’re interested in one of our Learn to Skate or Intro to Roller Derby courses, feel free to DM us :) In their own words: ““I took up roller derby in 2021 as soon as Dublin Roller Derby began practicing again after the pandemic break. I had never skated at all before last summer, and I give rollerskates a lot of credit for my final steps (or glides) towards conquering a life-long fear of both wheeled travelling conveyances and team sports (I now have a driving license and cycle every day too, which was hard to imagine before). As a hobby, derby has it all: skill, speed, lots of supportive queer folks, enough bruises to let you know you're alive, and punny nicknames for days. My illustration hopefully captures the rush and chaos you feel when playing, along with all the new vocabulary you need to learn.” #MightyDubs #RollerDerby

Brimming with pride! Belated post to celebrate the release of HOME, A Comics Anthology on Belonging in Ireland! I got the chance to edit this amazing volume, selecting and working with the contributors over the past few months, and it was one of the best working experiences of my life. I’m so proud of them all (listed below), and so grateful to @dublincomicarts for the opportunity, @artscouncilireland for recognising and funding great comics work, amazing project manager @clara_voyant_ , graphic designer Roisin O’Connor, and @jenkinson.debbie for the claaaass cover art! The comics are all amazing so I just flicked through and picked some snippets that drew me in emotionally (plus piss). There will be plenty that resonate with you too, I promise! Available now from @littledeercomics in store or online, pls pick it up it’s so goooood Contributors: @rbooth_drawings Jareth Drake @literallyneongas @eireannmor @megan_luddy @fearghadecleir @ellymakes @bull_leaper @not_mowgli @fo_draws @artbymrolin @saint_vagrant @fintantaite

Drawings from today's @dublin_sketchers meet up in Ringsend/Irishtown. Started too ambitious, then got faster and more stylised as I went on! Accuracy shmaccuracy - something I want to bear in mind for comics too!

Some poems and illustrations from The Security Guard, the new zine/chapbook from @simonmulholland and myself. When Simon first got in touch to ask to work on this (back in 2024) I was immediately SO EXCITED to interpret these lovely fun poems, with a totally open creative brief and a request for black and white artwork. Working on these really pushed my illustration abilities and improved my style & confidence and I'm so proud of what we've made! Thanks to @c0n0r0t00le for the lovely graphic design job on it and to @waybadpress for the gorgeous riso printing - look at the gold ink on the cover! You can buy it from The Library Project and @littledeercomics (and you should it's great).

Excited to be featured in the fair at @image.museum.ireland this weekend (and at @templebargalleryandstudios after that) with 4 books - including The Security Guard, the new book of poetry I illustrated with @simonmulholland , designed by @c0n0r0t00le and BEAUTIFULLY riso-printed by @waybadpress It's my favourite illustration work I've ever done, and the poems are class and I'm very excited to share it with people finally! I'll make another post about it soon, in the mean time it's also available at @littledeercomics (and their stand at @dublincomicarts I think!)

Look what me and @comicfoyle have made! It's a poetry zine with ten poems by me and ten illustrations by Kat. We've been working on it for ages! I've been a huge fan of Kat's work for years so to get to do a thing with them is a dream. I knew Kat had the goods but I was still astonished at every turn. The illustrations are stunning and the interpretations are next level. Kat is the best. The gorgeous typesetting is by @c0n0r0t00le and the exquisite riso printing is by @waybadpress You can get it this weekend from Tsundoku Art Book Fair at @image.museum.ireland and thereafter from @tlp_says in temple bar and the incredible @littledeercomics in Stoneybatter. I'll post a link to buy it online in due course. Isn't it beautiful??? #poetry #illustration #smallpress #zine #artbook

Fulfilling new years res to draw bad comics behind the table at @droghedazinefair representing @straylinescomics (&@littledeercomics kinda). Trying out the tight horizontal panel between big text boxes -style of @a.mag.an . Jealous of everyone's hair.

Kat's last Little Deer post of the year is shameless self promotion! Did you know I had a mini comic published by @fieldmousepress this year (not shown to scale)? I pitched it to them on December 30th 2024 and I held it in my hands for the rest time a few weeks ago! You can buy Double Take on the Little Deer website or in store. It's €8 and I think it's really good actually! Thanks Little Deer for always advocating for local artists and thanks to Fieldmouse for choosing my comic to publish! Cool 2025 😎

Ran an impromptu zine exercise at @payattentioncollectivebaby tonight! Something told me to bring the pencil case and scissors out with me ✂️ such deadly work from @osarohello @jillian_c_murphy_art @agantiana and Rúairí - verrry fun to make zines with poets! My method is basically: 1. Leave the cover till last 2. Starting on the first inside page, use a wide brightly coloured pen to make 1-4 big shapes on each page including the back cover, leaving a space at the top of each page 3. Free associate 7 random words 4. At the top of each page write a sentence containing each word (Ana's last word was 'cathedral') 5. Use a pencil or fine black pen to draw in some details into your big shapes now that you know what your zine is about 6. Name your zine and draw the cover All steps remixable as needed, if inspiration drags you elsewhere at any point, go with it! Takes about 15 minutes (your drawings should be bad) 🙂

Fester, Part 9. Goodbye to the fly guys, hello to the dark embrace of the bin <3 Thanks everyone for reading along! If you don't like this ending please consider the alternative version where they have their big chat then move from the cannibalism to the orgy portion of proceedings. Anyway, yeah, my grandfather died recently. He hated comics and didn't know how to read them, but he liked stories and any time I described one of mine to him he distilled the themes instantly, which tbh made me feel like a hack but also like I had a very cool and clever grandfather. Miss you Poppa. It's lonely in the bin without you!
