Every show is so different, what a crazy night in a such a wicked venue. I love coming here & you lot make it extra special. We met some nutters too. There was Big Roy up the top, Dave who doesnt know what the online safe bill is and his misses Amy who knows exactly what it is, and not forgetting Liam and his mum Clare who are today winners of the most awkward car ride home 😭 Not forgetting the lovely beautiful woman in the front row I have a first night out since she BEAT cancer! Ive made a lot of mistakes in my time, got a lot of things wrong, & when you put yourself out there, the world reminds you of them every single day . Ive been hated, humiliated & humbled. Lost TV shows, tours, managers, brand deals, friends, family, my money, my sanity, been crucified by the media and almost checked out permanently… Ive had moments where Ive honestly thought I’ve truly failed at trying to do what I love. But Ive never given up, just kept moving. Ive tried to learn, tried to change, tried to use my platform for good. Then, amidst all the hard work, then endless pushing through the hate, the working material, creating content, juggling family life and work, a night like last night appears, 1000 people, all coming out to support me, all laughing, and it all makes sense. We are on our the way to another sell out tour, it was all worth it, even all the mistakes, all the learning.. And it didn’t break me, it made me better at what I do. The set backs and obstacles along the way are there to give you the tools you need to succeed and to check you really deserve it. Thank you all for sticking with me through it all. I love everything about the stand-up comedy I have done since the first time I watched Lee Evans at 14 years old & decided that’s what I wanted to spend my life trying to do. I’m one of the crazy people that actually love getting out testing new jokes even when I’m dying on my arse because there was a time when they wouldn’t even let me do that. There was a time I couldn’t get gigs in comedy clubs as a newbie, grafted for over 10 years then had a season I toured the UK, only to face being blacklisted and not being able to gig again. Even at the start of my last tour, imposter syndrome told me I didn’t belong on stage. But @comedykev , my brilliant comedy director, changed that. He sharpened my craft, rebuilt my confidence, and showed me I’m exactly where I’m meant to be—on stage, entertaining people. As we kick off this new tour tomorrow with sellout shows, it feels like the end of an era of grass roots comedy clubs and the start of something epic.
