This one is special… Teasing the medium-length film by @camillemartindonati lensed by @arnaudalberola with this breakdown. These are raw stills. There has been almost no grading, just the LUT. Thank you for the trust @arnaudalberola I found real location quite challenging but also very fun to light. In fiction, we most likely have to light the space to give as much freedom as possible to the talents. I see entrance of natural light as motivation for the lighting. We inspired ourselves of what was already happening in the space and enhanced it to match our vision of what could be meaningful in the plot. @aputure.europe

I've been working on this softness explaination since I started to be curious about lighting. I feel it is a key element often very badly explained. I tried my best this time. I want to thank @jeanromainpac who I've been discussing and debating the subject so much. I probably wouldn't have written this without him. He helped me alongside @twistou make my simple experiment you see with the frames. @williamcnixon on the picture last page. An amazing @the__asc article about softness was the foundation of all my reflexions. I have prepared multiple posts about this topic and can't wait sharing them. WARNING MISTAKE : the surface visible is multiplied by 4 not 2 (2*squared) when the distance is multiplied by 2. It's the lenght of one side on the frame that doubles.
