The Year of the Fire Horse is off to a strong start 🔥🐎 Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Tết/Lunar New Year with us. Our Philly area Vietnamese food scene is not only one of the best in the country but also easily one of the most fun ones! Seeing all the chefs proud to represent and share what they do is why this event was started in the first place. They all brought out the Vietnamese culture to the forefront: the overwhelming hospitality, the sheer abundance, and the Nhậu/Không say không về spirit. A big thank you to our participating restaurants: - @balebakeryphilly - @cafenhan - @misssaigonphilly - @levietphilly - @hen_vietnamese Our dessert friends: - @dripvietcafe - @okiedokiedonuts Our host and bar partner: - @yakitoriboyjapas Our Ops & Design MVPs: - @christynguyennn - @jessicaslifekit All pictures by @gandolfophoto Presented by @com.unity.phl See you next year! Chúc mừng năm mới!

Philly’s Vietnamese food community is coming together in a rare and meaningful way this Lunar New Year. On Monday, February 16, @com.unity.phl will host its annual Philly Tet Dinner at @yakitoriboyjapas (211 N. 11th St.) , inviting diners to celebrate Tết—the Vietnamese Lunar New Year—through food, culture, and collaboration. Taking place in the heart of Chinatown, the one-night-only dinner honors the Year of the Fire Horse with a special multi-course menu created by a lineup of beloved Vietnamese restaurants that don’t often share the same kitchen. Participating chefs include the iconic @balebakeryphilly , neighborhood favorite @cafenhan , longtime community staple @levietphilly , and rising newcomer @misssaigonphilly . Tickets are available at in the Com.unity.phl bio. Each chef will present unique dishes inspired by traditional Tết flavors and symbolism. One standout offering includes Ba Le Bakery’s celebratory Bánh Tét, made with magenta and pandan rice, salted egg yolk, pork belly, mung beans, and lap cheong—an intricate dish rarely found outside of home kitchens and holiday gatherings. Other menu items include Ba Le Bakery: Duo of Bánh Tét & Bánh Chúng with Siêu Xốt special sauce Cafe Nhan: Amuse Bouche Trio – Bánh Khọt with a coconut cream & caviar – Hamachi Crudo with pomelo and a Nuoc Mam vinaigrette – Viet salad with grilled octopus The event was born from a desire to see greater collaboration among Philly’s Vietnamese chefs, who often operate independently despite sharing deep cultural roots. By cooking side by side, the chefs aim to celebrate tradition while also pushing the local Vietnamese food scene forward. Guests are encouraged to dress in traditional Áo Dài attire, adding to the festive atmosphere. With only 60 seats available, the evening is designed to feel intimate and communal. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and tickets are priced at $108 per person. A cash bar will be available courtesy of the Yakitori Boy team. After dinner, attendees can continue the celebration by walking over to the Lunar New Year Parade presented by Chinatown PCDC and the Philadelphia Suns, making it a full night of food, culture, and community in Chinatown.

The Michelin Guide's first inclusion of Philly restaurants left a lot of us...puzzled. For me, it was mostly about the categories... But a designation I've seen on the Guide before that didn't make it in Philly is the "Rising Star". It's typically awarded to restaurants that are "on the cusp" of being elevated to the next level. And this dinner at the famed James Beard House was full of "Rising Stars". The event was hosted by @visitphilly and specifically curated by Binh Nguyen, their Sr Director of Communications, who's been championing the Philly food scene hard by getting out of town eyes and attention on our favorite chefs and restaurants. The theme of this dinner was "The Next Wave of Southeast Asian Culinary Talents" and featured a line-up comprised of: - Diana Widjojo of @ricensambal 🇮🇩 - Raquel Dang of @babysphl 🇵🇭 - Jacob Trinh of @littlefishphilly 🇻🇳 - Richie Tray of @rittenhouselibrarybar 🇰🇭 Simultaneously meeting people's wide array of expectations of the culture you represent to them while also breaking out of the traditional mold is an exercise that many young immigrants that mostly grew up outside of their parents' home country are very familiar with. And this is what this group of very exciting culinary talents showed throughout the evening to a room full of national media and content creators. Beyond the Michelin Guide's awardees, we all know there's a rich array of great meals to be had in Philly and as 2026 with all its big events quickly approaches, I urge you all to support your favorite restaurants that might not get all the tourism boost because they didn't make this or that list. We should all feel blessed to have this thriving Philly Food Scene 🙏🏽

Atop Philly’s gorgeous urban skyline, we celebrated culture, creativity, and community at The Oxtail Exchange & Friends Pop Up. Guided by the unforgettable Chef Chaz Brown, this rooftop event at Bok Bar brought together some of the most incredible chefs in Philly, including favorites like Mike Carter of Down North Pizza, 2D James Beard award winning Chef Ophus all the way from the DMV, Chef Yun Fuentes of Bolo, and Chef Amy Rivera of Amy’s Pastelillos and so many more serving up elegant and elevated Afro‑Caribbean & Latin dishes from all ends of the diaspora, each one carrying a story, a recipe, a rhythm that added to the night’s harmony. From soul‑stirring steel drums to DJ beats, handcrafted delights from Black‑owned vendors, and that signature fish‑fry & hot sauce energy; every moment was a toast to heritage, collaboration, and good vibes. A huge thank you to @chewy_gluten and his amazing family & team on the ground in Philly, to @bok_bar and their wonderful staff and coordinators, to @com.unity.phl and especially everyone who joined us to sell this event out and to the incomparable Chefs, volunteers, and friends - new and old - who made this night unforgettable. 📍 BOK Bar | Philadelphia, PA 🎥 + 🚁: @andre_hinds ✂️ 🎞️: @kodacreativemarketing #photography #photooftheday #photographer #portraitphotography #charlestonphotographer #charlestonphotography #chsphotographer #philly #phillyphotographer #phillyphotography #philadelphia #phillyeats #chseats

On an unseasonably cool Monday night in Philly, something beautiful happened on a rooftop of an old public school. The city lights leaned in to listen as chefs told stories. Not with words, but with flavour, spice, memory, and soul. The Oxtail Exchange & Friends was more than a pop up, it was communion. A gathering of roots and rhythm, of flavour passed down through generations and reimagined with purpose. Led by Chef Chaz Brown, each plate carried heritage. Each laugh echoed the warmth of home. Steel pan music danced on the breeze. The sizzling sounds of Soca leading us beyond the sunset. Black and Brown hands building something timeless. And for one night, the rooftop at Bok Bar became a place of celebration, resistance, and deep, deep joy. To the amazing chefs who fed us, the guests who held space with us, and the ancestors who seasoned every dish, we thank you We’ll be carrying this one in our hearts for a long, lone while. Stay tuned for more pics, recaps and of course keep your ear to the ground for more updates on the Lost & Found: From Roots to Rice Docuseries coming next year! #photography #photooftheday #photographer #portraitphotography #charlestonphotographer #charlestonphotography #chsphotographer #philly #phillyphotographer #phillyphotography #philadelphia #phillyeats #chseats
