Without Saying brings together the richly layered paintings of Ernest Chua and Colin Dorward @colthedoctor , two Yukon-based artists who communicate with each other through a shared visual language rather than words. Though their paths differ: Chua is a near non-verbal, autistic, self-taught artist, and Dorward is a neurotypical, academically trained painter, their work resonates in its complexity, density, and refusal to conform to easy interpretation. This exhibition challenges the need for labels like “insider” or “outsider,” instead emphasizing the clarity and power of artistic vision. Without Saying invites viewers into a wordless dialogue between two distinct but deeply connected practices.

Old paint! I’ve had this tube since early 2000s, when I was in my undergrad in Vancouver. “Marie’s” brand, with no pigmentation info, acquired off Craigslist, iirc. I was always worried it contained toxic cadmiums or the like, and it sat in the bottom of my bin. Lately, I stopped caring, and started using it. At this age it has acquired a peculiar consistency, and become a symbol of loss, and hope.
