After 14 years, 10 months and 14 days at the helm of Colophon Foundry, the directors, Anthony and Edd, in December announced the strategic decision for Colophon Foundry to be acquired by @bymonotype . Combining our collective custom design expertise, type technology and tools, and bringing our library of 85 font families to Monotype will allow us to continue producing world-class typographic solutions while being at the forefront of technological developments. For our clients and community — this isn’t goodbye, but a continuation of our journey with new opportunities for collaboration. We’re excited to see what the next chapter holds.
Named after the act of providing unwelcome advice at a card game, KIBITZ is a high-contrast display serif that features exaggerated angular details combined with subtle chamfers resulting in a sophisticated design.
Basis Grotesque contains nuanced flick-backs found on certain characters such as the 'a' or 's' or 'j', these moemtns bring a warmth and human-like quality to the type family, that allows it to balance function and characteristics. It is available to license in both Standard (‘STD’) and Professional (‘PRO’) versions.
Dopple, a name born out of various iterations and translations of doubling and duality, is an exploration into the extremes of expression within a single typographic family. Moving from a Regular to a Black weight, the design becomes increasingly graphic in its transition from straight to flared lines, transforming subtle tapering at letter joints in the monolinear Dopple Regular weight into flared curves that threaten to bulge out of their bounding outlines in the Bold and Black weights.'

Loosely based on an un-digitised version of ITC’s Ultra Bold Condensed type, Flou is a singular weight type family. Translating as blurry or vague, the namesake Flou hints at both the characteristics of individual letterforms as well as its development and referential ideation.
Cru by @wiewauters — aiming to distil the overall gesture, flavour and intention of wood type, Cru removes the historic limitations of the medium to breathe new life into a classic.
Manufacturing limitations historically drove certain letter forms definition. Wood type processes limited the inside radius or changes in stroke direction to be a minimum thickness of the router piece, thus forcing restraints that were reflected in nuanced and at points, cru(de) output.
Traversing from X Condensed through X Expanded, Cru gives a unique take on an old favourite. Giving users the most flavour with the least effort, akin to the simple pleasures of the best comfort food.
Kibitz contains three alternate stylistic sets that change diacritical and punctuation marks; square, parallelogram and diamond.
