It was a delight to welcome author, historian, and filmmaker Don Capria for a presentation of his book, Colombo: The Unsolved Murder, at the IAMLA this past Saturday. Capria’s work explores the life, legacy, and unsolved shooting of Joe Colombo.
It was also a pleasure to have Colombo’s grandson, esteemed attorney Anthony Colombo Jr., in attendance. @italianamericanmuseumofla

Revisiting this moment—hearing Giovanni Ribisi mention my book while discussing his role as Joe Colombo in “The Offer.”
Grateful for how far this story has traveled—and excited to continue the conversation this Saturday at the Italian American Museum.

From Central Park to Astoria: The Legacy Lives On 🇮🇹🇺🇸✊ In 1970, a spontaneous protest in Central Park grew into a defining moment for Italian American civil rights. Led by IACRL founder, Joesph Colombo and his son Anthony by his side— the Italian American Civil Rights League marched to the FBI headquarters on 59th Street, demanding answers for the targeted discrimination of Italian Americans by federal law enforcement.
Even law enforcement called the demonstration “extraordinary.”
Because it was.
Before the march, the eldest Colombo and son met with NYPD brass to map out a peaceful route through Midtown — balancing disruption with dignity. That moment wasn’t just about protest — it was about presence. It was about standing up and being heard when the world tried to paint us with one brush.
And 55 years later, last week in Astoria, we stood again.
Outside Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani’s office, we carried that same spirit.
That same urgency.
That same unwavering pride.
Because when our heritage is mocked or erased, we answer with unity — not silence.
The mission hasn’t changed.
The faces have — but the fire hasn’t.
Join us as we continue the work our fathers and grandfathers began.
We will not be erased.
We will not be defined by stereotypes.
We will not stand down.
