Flashback to last month’s @joolapickleball Titans Tour:
It was an action-packed trip that included setting the world record for the highest pickleball match ever recorded, exhibitions and on-court events in Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, and continuing to build momentum around the Pro V release!
It was remarkable to see so many passionate pickleball fans in new parts of the world, and it’s obvious the sport continues to grow in Asia in a massive way. Thank you to the pickleball community for making us feel so welcome both on and off the court throughout our travels.
Thank you as well to all my fellow Titans for making the time on and off the court so enjoyable. It’s always fun sharing laughs and memories together. And as always, I’m grateful to the entire JOOLA team that takes care of all the small details that allow us to show up at our best. Pulling off such a packed and high-energy week on the international road is no easy task, and it was a tremendous success that will be remembered for a long time to come. You are always appreciated. 🙏
And of course, a sincere thank you to my sponsor @joolapickleball for including me in a vision that is helping shape the sport around the globe. I look forward to continuing to support many more of these initiatives together as my summer swing through Asia has already begun.
Round two of growing the sport in Asia starts in Malaysia with a @ppatourasia tournament and @racketpro.rpo coaching initiatives. More to be announced shortly!
The best facilities get the fundamentals right first 💪
As @benjohns_pb and @collinjohns discuss, some of the biggest differences between an average facility and a high-level one come down to the details players feel immediately:
Proper spacing
Consistent court performance
Durable surfaces
Clean sight lines
Even lighting distribution
At JDC, these aren’t afterthoughts. They’re core standards we prioritize when building, upgrading, and certifying facilities. Because when players feel comfortable moving, tracking the ball, and competing at a high level, the overall experience changes completely.
The goal isn’t just to build more courts.
It’s to create facilities that perform consistently and hold up long-term.
If you’re building, upgrading, or evaluating a facility, email or send us a DM to elevate your project at any stage.

Want a more reliable third shot drop? Focus on this.
One of the biggest mistakes players make with their drops: focusing too much on simply landing the ball in the kitchen.
Instead, the real objective is to keep the ball below the level of the net and difficult to attack.
-Aim with a little arc and forward momentum
-Target somewhere around your opponent’s toes or below the knees
-A good drop should help you move forward, not give your opponent an easy attack
Small adjustments in height and trajectory can make your third shot much more effective and consistent.

The best facilities don’t just run well, they feel effortless to play in.
As our founders (and the most decorated men’s doubles team in pickleball history), @benjohns_pb and @collinjohns discuss, technology is quickly becoming a key part of that experience.
Seamless booking.
Instant replays.
Smarter court management.
Tools like PodPlay don’t just make operations easier, they elevate how players experience the facility.
And as data and AI continue to evolve, the facilities that integrate it well will have a clear edge.

Your grip setup matters more than you think 🏓
@collinjohns walks through exactly how he applies his overgrip in pickleball — and why small details can make a big difference in feel and control.
Key tips to keep in mind:
• Start from whichever side feels most natural — there’s no one “right” way
• Hold the grip in place and keep it smooth to avoid wrinkles
• Use a consistent overlap as you wrap for a secure, even feel
• Decide how high you want the grip based on comfort and preference
• Finish tight at the top to lock everything in place
It’s a simple process, but dialing this in can improve how your paddle feels every time you step on court.

What does a Grand Slam-level facility actually look like? 👀
As @benjohns_pb and @collinjohns share, places like Indian Wells and top ATP venues aren’t just great because of scale — they’re great because of obsession over detail.
Court surfaces tested over and over.
Lighting, color, and contrast dialed in perfectly.
Every decision made with the player experience in mind.
That level of care is what separates good from world-class.
And it’s the same standard JDC brings to every pickleball facility, so you don’t have to figure it out the hard way.
Struggling with your serve? Going to a drop serve might be your easiest fix.
The drop serve is a simple, legal alternative to traditional variations, that simplifies the number of variables. Because the primary three serving rules need not apply to the drop serve—upward motion, contact below waist, paddle below the wrist—it allows the server to focus on executing successfully rather than on abiding by legal parameters.
Key points to know:
• Release the ball from your hand (don’t propel it up or down)
• The serve can be legally struck after landing anywhere on the playing surface. (in-bounds or out of bounds)
• Allow the ball to rise up to a natural contact point to give yourself time to prepare a comfortable swing
• You can drop the ball from a more elevated height, as long as it’s a true release
• Keep your feet behind the baseline as you make contact
• Using the drop serve helps create a consistent relaxed tempo between when the ball is released and when the server’s swing should start
For players who struggle with traditional serving variations, the drop serve is a great alternative way to raise consistency and confidence in getting the ball in play.

Want more reps without the chaos? Try this 👏
Skinny singles drill — a simple, half-court game that helps you build feel, control, and consistency without covering the entire court.
Why it works:
• Play on half the court for more controlled reps
• Start at the kitchen line to focus on dinks and volleys
• Build a better feel for the bounce, touch, and paddle control
• Get more repetition without the chaos of full-court movement
• Great for beginners and players looking to sharpen fundamentals
It’s one of the easiest ways to get quality touches and improve faster — especially if you’re working toward better doubles play.

Utah + Hanoi recaps:
You can’t ask for a more scenic place to compete than @blackdesertresort in Utah 🏜️ I spent the week alternating between wearing the playing and coaching hats. As always, @tinapisnikofficial and I put in the work, and it was great to welcome the Season 2 Trailblazers to their first US @ppatour event. Looking forward to continuing to develop your games over the next few weeks of your trip!
With just a few more let cords in our favor in Utah, I’m sure I would’ve been able to end my defeated streak against little brother… 🤣 I’ll be praying to the pickleball gods for better fortunes before the next battle. ⚔️🙏
It was fun to return to my adopted home from the end of last year—Vietnam—for my first @ppatourasia event. A week of catching up with familiar faces and seeing the continued progress of @rpo.apac made me very happy. More loading for this summer!
Back to competing + coaching this week in Sacramento.
