Pink, arugula, roots, mustards, and first of the grumolo.

This week: Bloomfield Market!
Yes thats right, we will return to market this week. The veg survived the frozen wasteland of January and now demands consumption in February.
Find us in our usual spot. Come for the carrots, stay for the overwintered radicchio, linger past close for the baby mustards and radishes. False spring is here and we have the veg to match. What season is it really? Does it matter as long as the it tastes good?
Find out at @bloomfieldpgh this Saturday 11am-2pm.
Thank you! We just did our best winter market ever! Sold out of some things but we should have more tomorrow at Squirrel Hill Market 10am-1pm
See you there.
Pictured: red rose radicchio, a winter specialty. Grown in the field for 3-4 months, we then dig the plants and move them indoors to grow for another month. The result is a salad green that is beautiful, mild, tender, and crisp. This beautiful variety originated from the northeastern corner of Italy in Fruili-Venuzia Guilia, the land that also gave us the popular orange wine. They are only available for a few short weeks in the darkest part of winter. This makes them one of the most highly valuable and highly coveted vegetables in the world. Grab them while you have the chance.
Disclaimer: we wont have these at Squirrel Hill bc Bloomfield gobbled them up but we will have treviso tardivo, pink, and all the other radicchio. :)
Pink season at long last starts at @bloomfieldpgh this Saturday! It continues into Sunday market and beyond.
Finally.
What else is there to be said?
