When I started comedy, my biggest goal was to one day open for my favorite comic, Doug Stanhope. I checked that box a day early when I got to front run the detroit show in Toledo! Fuck yeah Ohio!
At my first lakes of fire over 10 years ago, I met @redredclover who gifted me a bracelet she made. It was a great keepsake from a really cool first day of exploration and i treasured it dearly, wore it every day. The day COVID lockdowns started, i was skating in Grand Rapids, fell, and it broke into a million pieces. The world’s been pretty not great since. While cleaning a few weeks ago, I found a bag with the beads in it and sent it to her, along with a tuft of Leo’s hair, in the hopes that the restoration might help bring a little hope back into the world at large. I just received the result. Leo’s hair is in every big glass bead. He’ll be with me everywhere 🥲 so very grateful. Here’s to a brighter tomorrow 🖤
As I write this, the vet is en route. I have twenty minutes left with him. Thankful that I got to have one last beautiful afternoon with the best friend that’s been by my side for almost half of my life now. My wonderful partner bought some flowers to bury him with, and he went to check them out right as the sun shone through the front door. There’s no filters involved, just serendipity. This is a picture I’ll treasure forever. I fucking loved this cat so hard. Rest well, King Leonidas. I’ll never forget you. God this hurts.
My heart is broken in half. Leo’s been my one constant for over 15 years, with me through a million little lifetimes, and now I have to get ready to say goodbye. His health and mind are fading fast and he’s becoming very confused and scared at random points throughout the day and night. As we prep for a peaceful passage for him, if you’d like to see him one last time, let me know. I am going to be an absolute fucking wreck about this. I didn’t expect it to be like this. 😭
So lucky to share my life with this beautiful, kind, caring woman! Through good times and bad, she’s always there for me and I love the little world we’ve built together. Happy 30th birthday babe! Very proud of all that you’ve overcome, and how you always strive to improve as a person, a partner, and a mother. Here’s to the next thirty ✨ I’m a very lucky man.
