The Art of Translation. Assembling. CODEX 2025. Collection of unique prints and works on paper by 25 artists, printers and publishers of artist books. In this work, I have chosen to incorporate the texture of handmade Mexican textiles to convey the concept of the loom as both a form and a medium. I aim to translate the essence of weaving into a printed fabric on paper—not in a literal sense, but in a suggestive manner. What happens when an artist book enters a library collection?
We’re honored that What We Keep, What Keeps Us: Chinatown, Between Thresholds has recently been added to a growing number of library and special collections.
For us, this means more than recognition. It means the book can keep working: being discovered, handled, studied, and revisited by readers who may bring their own questions about Chinatown, migration, language, and place.
During AANHPI Heritage Month, we’re especially grateful to see stories connected to Chinatown, diaspora, and cultural memory finding space within institutions that help preserve and share them with future readers.
That is one of the reasons we believe in book arts. A book does not end with its release. It continues through the people who encounter it later.

We had a nice turnout for Gail Wight’s talk @codexfoundation . Telling the story of making “Ostracod Rising” she took us on a journey from core samples, through adhesive anxiety, to a 35 pound accordion book for the Getty’s 2024 Pacific Standard Time exhibition, and then evolving into more manageable edition.
Beautiful drawings outlining the history of Earth from the Hassan Eon 4.5 billion years ago to the Ostracocene, 104 million years in the future. Thanks @gailandia ! And big thanks to @codexfoundation for hosting us. We also got to see the beautiful works by the Real Lead Saloon. It was a lovely evening, and great to talk with everyone.
