Out now! Roxane Métayer & Charles Dubois - Taillis [CODEX003] 🤎𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒊𝒐 Roxane Métayer and Charles Dubois explore a sonic ecosystem built from rudimentary percussion, prepared drums and violin, combining acoustic sound, raw materials and abstract or organic textures within a restrained field that touches on folk music, minimalism and free improvisation. The duo plays with the inversion of instrumental roles, creating a shifting dialogue where melody, pulse and texture exchange places, the violin turning percussive or droning while bells, drums and resonant objects carry fragments of melody, small rhythms and resonances passing between wood, metal and strings as the instruments echo, follow and interrupt each other. Song-like structures, abstract passages and open improvisation appear side by side, violin lines stretching into unstable tempos while tuned wood, bells and voices echo or shadow them, rhythms gradually forming through repetition and friction and settling into loose cycles that drift between pulse and suspension. The music unfolds through small gestures and quiet transformations, where melodic fragments, loose pulses and resonant textures appear and disappear, leaving behind a sparse landscape of sound shaped by proximity, listening and response. This recording documents a meeting between the two musicians at «La Galerie Sonore in Angers», invited by the concert series «Up Up and Away». Recorded by Étienne Foyer in February 2025. CODEX002 ❤️ 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎 𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝑻𝑴𝑶 (𝑳𝒆𝒊𝒍𝒂 𝑯𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒏 & 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒂 𝑩𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊) “Attacco Morbido”, OUT NOW! Link in bio This recording brings together Leila Hassan and Elia Buletti, who first crossed paths in 2011 around the release of The Call of the Master of the Haze by Sea Urchin (Leila Hassan and Francesco Cavaliere), published in 2012 on Elia Buletti’s label Das Andere Selbst. Years later, during the early Códex Club events in Berlin, they were invited by Códex to perform separately and subsequently to record together for the newly formed label. Attacco morbido / Italian for “soft attack”/ is their seven-piece debut album as ATMO. Leila Hassan works with keyboards, voice and percussion, shaping the songs through her voice and lyrics. Elia Buletti takes care of the rhythmic structures through drum computers, sequencing and electronics. These are extended through the use of acoustic sources such as balafon, rumba box, flutes, shakers, ceramics and field recordings. The music unfolds through soft rhythmic patterns and spoken or sung fragments. Programmed structures and acoustic gestures overlap ...at times aligning, at times drifting... shaped by proximity and attention. Attacco morbido was recorded across several sessions between autumn 2024 and spring 2025. Recording and mixing were handled by Elia Buletti, with mastering by Giovanni Conti at Artefacts Studio in Berlin. The final piece, Ech na (sognando una barca), had previously appeared in live form and was performed by Leila Hassan in different contexts prior to this recording. CODEX001 (Yes, first reference of the label!) OUT NOW 🖤 Link in bio! ❞𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒅❞ 𝒃𝒚 𝑴𝒐’𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒂𝒅𝒊 & 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒕𝒐 𝑫𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒆 This recording documents a meeting between Mo’ong Pribadi and Sholto Dobie in Vilnius, Lithuanian where they both live. Mo’ong and Sholto are both self-taught instrument builders and musicians - creating wind and percussion instruments from found and recycled material. Mo’ong’s instruments - made in Indonesia - combine metal parts, pvc horns, acoustic reverb and distortion effects, Sholto’s instruments use an air compressor, timers, valves, bamboo pipes, and organ flutes. The materials reflect a shared interest in folklore, diy, street music and automata. Mo’ong is from Indonesia and Sholto is from Scotland, which are very far apart from each other, and this music does not feel like it belongs anywhere in particular, but there are certain elements which ground it in an uncanny and intriguing sound world. Through the clicks, clacks and buzzing, one can perceive surface traces of scottish bagpipe music, javanese folk music and improvised noise music. Technologically the music feels to belong to many times at once, handmade and industrial are combined sonically and physically like hybrid creatures. Automatic clicks and manual rhythms overlap, phasing and falling in and out with each other. Pipes played by both human lungs and air compressors are hard to tell apart as they layer. The occasional vocal noise is heard, but distorted to alien-like proportions. A mechanical folk music, made with the help of phantoms. Our monthly show is back on @radioalhara tonight with a special guest mix by sound maker and mind behind the fantastic and always inspiring label @invisibilia_editions , Andrea Penso. On air tonight 11pm Bethlehem 🇵🇸 / 10pm CET time, on

In Andrea’s words:

“Proposing a mix during this historical period makes me a little uncomfortable. As a radio listener, these are sounds you didn’t choose to listen to (it’s not like going to a concert or putting on a record). It’s true that you can turn off the radio if you don’t like what you’re listening to... but I still feel a subtle degree of power for those behind the mixing desk... and I think those who create the show should always be aware of this. I was saying, what kind of music should we listen to in these terrible days? I don’t know the answer, but definitely music made by humans, “concrete” music that reveals the pain of existence... music made with instruments created from parts of dead animals (the millions of “others” we systematically kill every day), and then music of the diaspora, sounds poised between love and madness. Yesterday a friend wrote to me, “a river of pain enters a sea of hope.” Thank you Andrea 🖤
