CODE RED is an 1920s-inspired speakeasy hidden behind an unmarked steel door in Adams Morgan, delivering a truly immersive Prohibition-era experience from the moment you arrive. Once inside, you’re transported into a dimly lit, moody space with red velvet booths, vintage touches, and a warm, atmospheric glow that sets the tone for the night. The vibe is effortlessly cool, upscale, and perfect for a date night or an evening out with friends.
The cocktail program is extensive and thoughtfully curated, with a wide variety of creative and classic drinks. Some of our favorites included the Mary Pickford, which was smooth and slightly sweet, the Bee’s Knees, light and refreshing with a citrusy edge, and the Wilde Side, which was fruity and easy to enjoy. Every drink felt intentional and well-balanced, making it fun to explore the menu. The food held its own alongside the drinks and made the experience even better. The chicken skewers were juicy and flavorful, the hummus was smooth and well-seasoned, and the truffle fries were the perfect side to pair with the cocktails — crispy, indulgent, and easy to share.
Service was exceptional throughout the night — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. They took time to explain drinks, offer recommendations, and ensure everything was flowing smoothly, which really elevated the evening. Overall, CODE RED is more than just a bar — it’s a full experience. From the hidden entrance to the immersive atmosphere, expertly crafted cocktails, and standout service, it’s a spot that delivers on both vibe and quality.
