Many thanks to Bernie McKeown for visiting our students today to share insights into SETU’s computing programmes and the various pathways to careers in tech.
Students gained a deeper understanding of the opportunities available in the field, the skills needed to succeed, and the different routes they can take to enter the industry.
Last Friday our TYs got the chance to visit Google HQ in Dublin. They got to hear about the work that gets carried out there and also received an insight into the Google AI - Gemini.
An insightful day for all!
Our TY students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the #WomenInSTEM webinar in celebration of International Women’s Day this week.
The event featured Susmita Bhowmick, Senior Technical Business Analyst at Bank of America, and Kim Buraroic, Ethical Hacker at Fidelity Investments, who shared their experiences of working in the tech industry.
A big thank you to both speakers for sharing their insights and inspiring the next generation of women in tech!
Thanks to CodePlus Ireland for organising the event.

A big thank you to Brian Hardin from @codeplusirl for visiting our school this afternoon to present our students with their certifications for completing coding workshops during Computer Science Week 24.
The girls had hands-on experience with a variety of topics, including AI, software development, gaming, coding, and microbits. The workshops were a hit, and we’re excited that they may have inspired some of our students to pursue technology roles in their future careers.
Thanks to Ms C Carey & everyone who contributed to making Computer Science Week 2024 a memorable experience for our students.
