On a recent trip to SD we decided to hike to the top of the black elk peak at 7000 ft. It was a tough hike but the views were amazing. Can’t wait to get back out and explore this place more!

This place is very sacred for the natives and called “Washun Niya”. They still perform rituals today.
There is also a lot of ongoing research at this cave due to its boxwork formations. “Approximately 95 percent of the world’s discovered box work are found in Wind Cave. The cave is recognized as the densest cave system in the world! NASA astrobiologists are using Wind Cave as a model to develop ways to look for life on other planets. Previous researchers discovered tiny microorganisms living in the lake waters deep within Wind Cave, which could be similar to those found on other planets!”

I left my home country in 2003 for college and on April 6, 2023, I became a U.S. citizen! It has been quite a journey. I love every part of it from the obstacles I had to overcome to the wonderful people that my paths crossed with. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
