Casey Club ( @caseyclubofficial ), skrillex ( @skrillex ) and LYNY ( @lynyofficial ) yes chef told me were his top 3 favorite bass music producers
"I think music in general is very connected to divinity" he told me
"Bass music to me is like a religious practice, I worship bass because music transcends and can have a profound impact on people’s lives when you put positive energy into it."
But moreover for Yes Chef it's also an earthly sound. To him "It’s just a more unique sound, it rewards creativity instead of sounding like everything else, and that reflects into the crowd and the fans"
Meaning the not usual 4/4 of house music. Not the same kick drum over and over. In bass music there are sounds that are unique to an individual. It's like when we hear skrillex we know it's him by sound. It's a unique thing that he made for himself.
"But specifically bass music idk there’s something about the lower frequencies and the genre in itself"

"What makes bass music special to you"? I asked him
"Bass music is special because it makes low frequencies the heart of the experience, frequencies you rarely hear emphasized in other genres. It’s not just about playing tracks; it’s about feeling the sound. That’s why bass events almost always use specialized sound systems designed to deliver that deep, immersive impact. Most genres can get away with any decent system, but with bass music, that simply doesn’t cut it, and that’s what makes it so unique and exciting."
That was his answer. One common thing among bass heads you will come to find out is ... well ... the bass. That deep rumble that shakes the ground that you feel in your core.
House and techno do not need the deep deep rumble of 25hz. House music never goes that low of a sound.
Toogood is also @vizawave . VizaWave is a sound and visual company that many of you have seen and heard. But did not know it was them. From warehouses and parks throughout Philadelphia and Festival grounds all over. You have heard and seen their production.
And it's one hell of a production
"My speakers are made by turbosound and ran in a bi-amped configuration, flat tuned for accurate response between 65hz-20,000hz with a max power handling of 4000 watts total. My subs are a custom vizawave design with flat response from 25hz-65hz with a max power handling of 13,000 watts between the 4" he told me
Customized subwoofers to bring the bass low low low and lasers that go high high high

BANkaJI ( @BANkaJI_music )
Skinny Limbs ( @Skinny_Limbs )
Intentz ( @lifesintentz ) @oremmatt told me were his favorite producers of last week. But this week he's saying something different. And next week would be different again... And again.
I can hear Pocahontas singing about rivers in my head.
"I don’t have any favorite producers, my likes and dislikes change with my mood and the day. I might love someone today but not be able to stand them tomorrow….then a couple weeks later I might fall in love with them again"-Orem
We all can relate. All of our tastes of music change. It's about how you feel in the moment... And then the next moment it seems like the whole world has changed. Including you. You changed... Just as one moment you sing along to Britney Spears and the next it's Neil Young. Dance to bass one night and house the next. Both different emotional music moments. Neither to be disregarded.
It's a constant change (that river). We are emotional beings who feel. We are not "machine men with machine minds and machine hearts" to quote Charlie Chapman.
Music is an emotional experience. It is something that we feel inside of us. It is something to rejoice.
This is why Matt does music.

"Top 3 Bass Music Artists: Tipper ( @Tippermusic ), Noisia ( @Noisia_official ), Govinda ( @Govindaadventures )" @illixirbass told me as his faves
"Bass Music is special to me because out of all electronic music genres, it allows for the most creative freedom and experimentation over my favorite defining element of electronic music: the bass (specifically, the mid bass for my preferences)."
"Mid bass? WTF is Mid bass"? I asked him
He said "Usually a bass sound is broken down into 3 layers, sub mid and top layer bass"
I had no clue. So I asked googles more about it. The googles said:
Layer 1: Sub-Bass
Purpose: To provide the foundational low-end "rumble".
Sound: Often a simple sine wave because it's pure and clean, with a low-pass filter (LPF) to isolate the lowest frequencies.
Processing: Kept in mono to ensure the low end is centered in the mix and doesn't cause phase issues.
Layer 2: Mid-Range Bass
Purpose: To add the "body" and "punch" to the bass sound.
Sound: A different bass sound that fills the mid-range frequency spectrum, typically from around \(130\) Hz up to \(1\) kHz or higher.
Processing: EQ'd to have its own space in the mix, and sometimes given a bit of saturation to add warmth or character.
Layer 3: High-End Bass
Purpose: To add a unique character, grit, and presence, making the bass audible on smaller speakers.
Sound: A layer with frequencies typically above \(1\) kHz, which can be a distinct sound or processed version of a mid-range bass.
Processing: Often processed with effects like saturation, distortion, or other harmonic exciters to add edge and make it cut through the mix.

What makes bass music special to you I asked @izza_vybe_
And his answer is the frequencies and sound waves In fact, that's what his DJ name means. Izza Vybe... It's a vibration*
"Vibrational Awareness, Low Frequencies High Vibrations, Bass Connects. Everything is vibrations. Hence IZZA VYBE" was exactly what he said to me.
One of the things that makes unpopular opinion special is the level of production put into the sound (and visuals). That extra effort and money put into the renting of nothing but the best sound equipment available to hit sounds that you have never heard before. It's kind of mind-blowing to think about it, but there are literally vibrations and frequencies that you have never heard because most of the speakers that you have ever heard in your life are incapable of creating those sounds. Most of the speakers that you have ever heard in your life are literally incapable of it. @oremmatt and have had many conversations on this topic but I ain't no Bill Nye, so I did some googling on frequencies and vibrations.
The googles told me:
Vibration frequency measures how often an object oscillates per second, expressed in Hertz (Hz), and is a fundamental concept in physics, engineering, and even some spiritual and medical practices. In engineering, it characterizes a system's dynamic behavior to avoid damaging resonances, while in medicine, specific frequencies can have physiological effects. The concept of vibrational frequency is also used in spiritual contexts to describe the energy associated with different emotions and states of consciousness.
When a sound source vibrates, it causes the molecules in the surrounding medium (like air) to vibrate as well. These vibrations travel through the medium as a series of compressions and rarefactions, creating a sound wave. The medium itself does not travel with the wave; the particles simply move back and forth and pass the energy along. There is a progression of collisions that pass through the air as a sound wave. Air itself does not travel with the wave. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️ "Zeke Beats ( @zeke_beats ) , Detox Unit ( @Detoxunit ) and Seppa ( @seppamusic )"

"What makes Bass music special to you?" I asked @yuckidubz
"The community and people that come from it and I love the alien noises, Nothing beats it"
What do you mean by "Alien sounds" I asked him
"Pretty much the crazy sounds only this genre puts out!"
So naturally I had to ask him "do you believe in aliens?"
"1000%" was his answer.
We raised that question last RENEGADE. "Do you believe in UFOs?" And you know what? Something like 98 percent of the people who responded to the questionnaire did so with affirmation. We just about all believe 🛸
'Who are your top bass music producers?"
"Top 3 as of right now would be, Cozy Kev ( @cozykev__ ) Xaebor ( @Xaebor ) & ClayBrook ( @claybrookuk )" he told me
🔊🔊🔊🔊
Yucki has been spinning for 8 years now. But I had to know what was his inspiration before EDM. And you know what ? He's a metal head 🤘
"Just going to metal shows when I was younger, always knew I wanted to be on a stage for music, I use to play guitar before I started producing"
"Who's your tops?"
"Chelsea grin ( @Chelseagrinoffic ) Attila ( @attila_ga )" he told me. So you know he ain't f'n around!

"Who are your top three Bass music producers?" I asked Code Muck ( @codemuck ) 20 minutes ago (yeah I'm behind on typing up these things 🤦).
Cool Customer ( @_coolcustomer ) Phrva ( @phrvabass ) Peekaboo ( @peekaboobeats ) were his answers to me. Which is no surprise as Unpopular Opinion ( @unpopularopinion_philly ) is all Bass Music All Night Long🚨🚨🚨
But the question I've been asking the DJs for this event is what "makes bass music special to you."
And his answer was:
"What makes bass music special to me is the sense of freedom through every kick to snare and wub to womp! No words needed just sub lines and good vibes!'
(As someone who started out spinning house music, like he did and later learned to spin bass. It's true. I personally compare spinning bass music to playing video games with sound)
"Fell in love with the art of mixing and dove into heavily'
"Started going to shows in 2015 and a friend of mine was throwing a house party and they needed a DJ so I gave it a shot and never looked back!"
So if you live Bass music as we do come out Saturday October 18th to Unpopular Opinion!
