Why Bass Music Appeals to the Neurodivergent Brain Sensory Grounding: The deep, bone-vibrating bass frequencies are often described as feeling like a "brain jacuzzi," providing intense physical sensation that can be grounding and calming for a nervous system that might otherwise be overstimulated by the demands of the world. Structured Chaos: Genres like D&B feature a rapid pace, with complex, structured drum patterns that, for some, provide a stimulating yet predictable rhythm that helps the mind focus. Novelty and Engagement: Bass music often employs complex sound design and rapid changes in sound (rapid modulations) that keep the brain's "novelty seeker" engaged, preventing boredom and mind-wandering that people with ADHD often experience.
