K KIN: Metabolic Drift - 0rphan Drift, John Wild, Matt Lewis, V&C (Violet Savage and Ciar Wild) Thursday 14 May 7pm £10 Join us later this month for a new addition to IKLECTIK’s collaborative KIN programming. @iklectikartlab @codedgeometry @0rphan_drift @mattlewis.mattlewis @violet.savage @gravelly_ciar @maggie_mer A three part sonic-led journey through the complex metabolic interplay between society and nature, exploring the vibrational continuum and interconnectedness of the Noosphere, Biosphere, and Geosphere. Video projection and experimental dance both interpret and merge with the sonic experience. Metabolic Drift showcases new research-driven work by 0rphan Drift, Matt Lewis, and John Wild, complemented by experimental improvised dance by V&C (Ciar Wild and Violet Savage).

More-Than-Human Intelligence workshop Saturday 28th March 11am-1pm at Banner Repeater Platform 1, Hackney Downs Station Sign up in the Bio The More-Than-Human Intelligence is a hands-on workshop led by the Symbiotic Intelligence (@codedgeometry & @shirawachsmann ) that explores intelligence as a collective phenomenon rather than an individual trait. Through practical experiments with mycelium cultivation, the workshop investigates intelligence as an emergent property arising from interconnected systems of humans, more-than-human entities, and machines. Participants will work directly with living mycelium, creating their own seeded networks while critically rethinking dominant evolutionary narratives embedded in Western artificial intelligence. The workshop proposes a shift away from individualised, anthropocentric models of intelligence towards a symbiotic understanding shaped by encounter, cooperation, interdependence, and co-evolution Symbiotic Intelligence (SI) is an artist collective founded by Shira Wachsmann and John Wild. SI creates immersive installations that foster encounters challenging anthropocentric hierarchies by exploring intelligence as a co-constituted, emergent process, one that foregrounds multispecies encounters and synergistic ontologies. workshops during Meeting the Lough On Its Own Terms An exhibition by Ami Clarke @amiima333 at @bannerrepeater

The next up in our 2026 BA Fine Art talks @sheffhallamuni is @codedgeometry John Wild WEDNESDAY 11 MARCH 11.30-12.45 In person: Peak Lecture Theatre, Owen 527 (accessible from Hallam Square) and online via Teams Webinar (link to register in bio) FREE! ALL WELCOME! John Wild is an artist, originally from Rotherham, who works across sculpture, performance, sound, video, electronics and machine learning to research the futures imminent within digital technology. His current research focuses on critical artificial intelligence narratives and the poetics of digital infrastructure. John has presented his work internationally. Most recently, his collaborative project The Forest, created in partnership with Shira Wachsmann and Tom Simmons, was exhibited as part of the WeatherSpores AI exhibition at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. In 2025, Symbiogenesis (Wild & Wachsmann) was exhibited in Germany as part of the Chemnitz 2025: European Capital of Culture PurplePath programme, and as part iklectik Art Lab, London. John has presented his work at Transmediale (Berlin), iMAL (Brussels), Late at the Tate (Tate Britain), Barbican (London), Catalyst Arts (Belfast), [SPACE] Art + Technology residency and the Royal College of Art.  #artist #research #sculpture, #performance, #sound, #video, #electronics #machinelearning #digitalinfrastructure #criticalartificialintelligence #future

Over the moon to see the artwork and theoretical writing from Symbiotic Intelligence (Shira @shirawachsmann and me @codedgeometry ) published in radical⇌matter: International Journal for Art and Philosophy and the Wild Sciences. The journal looks fantastic. Many thanks to the editors — Johnny Golding and Martin Reinhard — for including us.

Symbiotic Intelligence: Rethinking AI with Mycelium Sunday 19th October 2025 16:30 - 17:30 Copeland Gallery, SE15 3SN Free The narratives shaping Artificial Intelligence are often flawed, reflecting social-Darwinist concepts. Dr. Shira Wachsmann and Dr. John Wild offer a radical solution: Mycelium. In this thought-provoking talk, they introduce the fungi’s cooperative nature as a model for ecologically sustainable technology design. Learn how to critique dominant AI narratives and envision positive technological futures grounded in symbiosis and collective assemblage. This practice is founded by Dr. Shira Wachsmann and Dr. John Wild, blending fine art with critical research. For over three years, they have worked together at the AI Design Lab (Royal College of Art & Hong Kong Polytechnic University), creating experimental installations that integrate live mycelium with interactive technology to propose alternative narratives based on symbiosis and collective assemblage. @peckhamdigital @shirawachsmann @codedgeometry

It was great to see a review of Interference Spores 2.0 — a joint project between Shira Wachsmann @shirawachsmann and myself — in the latest issue of Neural Magazine (Issue 77) @neural_mag . The review offers a thoughtful summary of some of the concepts we are exploring. However, I was disappointed that Shira was not mentioned by name. To address this, I’v slightly edited the review posted below. Interference Spores 2.0, organic complex communications One of the fascinations with predictive software is its apparent complexity and inscrutability. Shira Wachsmann and John Wild builds on this concept and creates a new idea of AI software that aims for sustainable symbiotic relations between machine and organic ‘intelligence’. With Interference Spores 2.0, they extends the communication of the mycelium on various levelled, e.g. by amplifying its electrical activities whose signals are broadcast through a WIFI network, to conceptually achieve a stronger symbiosis through its spores than is all ready the case. The complexity of organic communication then becomes a hope to elevate the results to a truly unconventional and unpredictable level.
