SPARK: ECO University is a 12-week 32 Hour STEAM and Clean Air Workforce Development program designed for high school students ages 14β18 who are ready to explore real career pathways in sustainability, technology, and environmental innovation.
Students participate in hands-on labs focused on Clean Air Technology and Decommission Technician pathways, gaining practical experience in areas such as air quality monitoring, energy efficiency, electronics recycling, data collection, and equipment safety.
In addition to technical skills, participants receive job readiness training, leadership development, work permit completion support, and assistance securing internships and entry-level employment opportunities.
The program runs Thursdays from 4:30β6:30 PM and Fridays via Zoom 5:30 β 7:00 pm and includes snacks and refreshments.
Students who successfully complete all program requirements will receive a $550 stipend and a certificate of completion.

Mae Jemison made history as the first African American woman to travel to space, proving that brilliance has no limits.
A lifelong STEM prodigy, Dr. Jemison entered Stanford University at just 16 years old, later earning her medical degree and serving as a doctor with the Peace Corps in Africa. In 1992, she flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, conducting important scientific experiments while orbiting Earth.

The Teen tech Center Coordinator is responsible for opening, supervising, and supporting an after-school Safe Space + STEAM/Makerspace environment for youth ages 12β17. This role provides a consistent, trusted adult presence during critical after-school hours and helps create a welcoming space where youth can receive academic support, explore creative interests, and engage in hands-on learning at their own pace.
The Safe Space is designed as an open, non-judgmental environment where youth can work on homework, explore STEM/STEAM interests, participate in optional workshops, or simply have a safe place to be after school.
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations & Supervision
Open and prepare the space daily prior to youth arrival
Ensure the space is safe, clean, organized, and welcoming
Always supervise youth and maintain a calm, structured environment
Close the space at the end of program hours
Youth Support & Relationship Building
Greet youth and foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
Build positive, trusting relationships with middle and high schoolβaged youth
Provide homework help and tutoring support as needed or requested
Serve as a positive role model and consistent adult presence
Attendance & Accountability
Take accurate daily attendance
Maintain basic program documentation and communicate updates to leadership
Ensure youth sign-in/sign-out procedures are followed
STEAM, STEM & Makerspace Support (Preferred / Plus)
Support youth use of computers, basic software, and digital tools
Assist with optional, informal workshops such as:
Game development
Animation or digital art
Creative coding or design using free or open-source software
Support youth engagement in the mini Makerspace, including:
3D printing
Laser cutting
Jewelry making or creative fabrication
Light tool use within safety guidelines
Help maintain a safe and respectful Makerspace environment
Note: Leading workshops or supporting Makerspace activities is a plus but not required. Youth participation may be self-directed, exploratory, or drop-in.
