Summer is on the horizon 🌄 As we gear up, we need your help to increase access to a summer of adventure and learning for youth!
We’re calling on all COBS crew members: alumni, parents, and everyone else who wants more kids to learn through outdoor adventure.
Help us raise $60,000 over the 4 weeks during our Contribute to Your Crew campaign. 🤝 Your gift will support:
🏕️Scholarships for students and local school partners in Colorado & Utah to experience the outdoors, many for the first time.
🧗♀️Basecamp improvements, including our high ropes course and campgrounds, so we can serve more students this summer and beyond.
🥾Restocking our gear room with boots, jackets, and warm clothing to support the growing number of students who don’t have access to the clothing needed for adventure.
Donate today and call on your crewmates to give back too! 🔗 in bio to donate. 💙 #gooutwardbound

We raised $50,000 for @cobs_org and they partnered with @22jumpsproject to put veterans in outdoor retreats! There is a free rafting trip in June! Send this to a veteran you love!
I feel so ridiculous thanking people through text on a social media post. Thank you doesn’t cut it, it never does. Programs like Outward Bound changed my life! This would not have happened without the generosity and creativity of all of you!
I’m going to giveaway at least one more tandem before the Leadville 100 on August 22nd. I’m considering creating a new opportunity for those people that didn’t donate but still want to jump. Stay tuned!
Since 2013 a ton of people have trusted me and supported me and in so doing I’ve now raised $273,000+ around BASE jumping. Sincerely, it doesn’t feel real. Thank you!

Limits tested. Fears faced. Breakthroughs made.
Each year, Morehead-Cain Scholars leave behind what is familiar: campus routines, city noise, certainty itself, and step into the wild.

Bringing back the #ThrowBackThursday to reflect on time shared with the @mycampsunshine crew at @COBS_org last summer.
Camp Sunshine was founded in 1982 by Dorothy Jordan, a pediatric nurse with a heartfelt vision to create a camp where kids with cancer could be kids again. Today, over 400 campers and 225 volunteers participate in summer camp at no cost to the family. And one crew each summer has gotten to attend Outward Bound since 1989.
After a hiatus that started in 2020, Camp Sunshine was back at Colorado Outward Bound School in 2025 and we couldn't have been more excited to witness their return.
Every year, a Camp Sunshine crew embarked on the same (but never the same) Outward Bound adventure in Colorado. Participants from this crew had grown up looking at the landscape through pictures from past groups. Learning about the ropes course, backpacking, and climbing through stories told at camp.
It was a place familiar yet completely new. Backpacking and climbing were activities they knew of, but some had never experienced themselves.
The adventure uphill was of course challenging, but every crew member committed to moving as a unit. Resting as needed to provide support for each other. Also taking breaks to simply enjoy the views. We saw students:
🎒 Taking weight from someone else's pack to alleviate their discomfort and pain.
🥪 Owning up to their crew assignments.
🥾 Cheering on each other as they approached and undertook some of the steepest climbs you can know on a hike.
Big packs, big commitment to arriving together, and they did it.
Looking forward to future adventures with y'all!

A letter from a @cobs_org student to his crew 👇
“I write this letter to many people.. but most of all, my new friends that I have made on course. You have all shown me what a better world could look like.
A brighter future, where we can all love and support each other. Where we all work to grow.
I have grown so much over this course and can't wait to use my new skills, knowledge, and friendships to make the world a better place.
I now feel like I can rely on others and be confident in my own abilities.
Thank all of you, Ben” – Outward Bound Colorado Backpacking Alum, 18
