Brandon & Jacob led a workshop on cross-cultural bridge-building for @ymcadetroit ’s DEI Ambassadors, proudly sharing @coalitionseries strategies & philosophies to jumpstart the Y’s “Year of Belonging”! TL;DR: It alllll starts with building authentic trust around shared interests. Huge shoutout Ariel Wilkerson for organizing & all who participated.

This past August, Brandon & Jacob repped The Coalition Series to the fullest at this year’s National Black Men In Leadership Summit via @nationaldiversitycouncil , held in Detroit! Our panel “Bridging the Gap: Fostering Allyship Between Communities” was a hit. We joined heavy hitters Gary Torgow, Chairman of @huntingtonbank , and Tom Kelly & David Jordan, President and Dir of DEI of Aerotek, for a powerful discussion about how embracing cross-communal collaboration can help Black leaders thrive. It was an honor to share our insights with a group of leaders from across the US!
Huge shoutout to Ivy Hunter for believing in us and choosing to highlight our work + Zenell Brown for moderating the panel.

Earlier this week, The Coalition Series hosted “Centering Humanity: Reframing Israel/Palestine Dialogue,” holding space for our community to grieve together, deepen our understanding, and expand our perspectives amidst the ongoing turmoil. Core to this group’s philosophy, explicitly acknowledging the humanity of ALL, including those with whom we disagree, opens the door to productive dialogue and is an essential step toward our collective liberation.
Huge thank you WSU professors Howard Lupovitch & Saeed Khan, two experts who have together modeled respectful dialogue despite their disagreements around I/P for years, for sharing their expertise. We began with a moment of silence for all of the innocent souls caught up in this mess, and then dove into a Q&A-style discussion (anonymously submitted thru a mobile app, flowing thru moderators to keep emotions at bay). After an intense 2-hr discussion, nearly everyone stuck around cordially schmoozing/debriefing despite their wide-ranging political views.
Shout out to Pastor Aramis Hinds & team at the Bethel Community Transformation Center for graciously hosting us at their beautiful historical building in Detroit.
In between the speaker stacks, my favorite place to be.. and under a Sukkah no less!
Still buzzing from this past Sunday’s @sukkot_sounds program hosted by @thewelldetroit@coalitionseries@detroit_repair at the incredible @foxglove.detroit 🌻🌸🌾
Thanks for dancing, sharing and celebrating the way we intended to do it!
