It’s out. A collection of 252 realities, stories, insights and perspectives from across the local VisComm landscape, brought into one place. Shaped through conversations, observations, lived experiences and honest reflections from within the community. Carefully considered and pieced together with heart, care and intention for the wider VisComm ecosystem. It has taken time. And it needed to. Within it, we explore what it takes to sustain a career in VisComm, what fulfillment looks and feels like, the structural realities we navigate, and the support, encouragement and advice we offer one another along the way. Take what you need from it. Sit with it, question it, share it. We hope it offers clarity, perspective, and a quiet reminder that none of us are navigating this alone. Download your copy. Singapore's visual communications industry is worth paying attention to. But are we paying it enough? On Monday, we brought a room of designers, creatives, and buyers together at NTUC Centre for the soft launch of Making VisComm Matter—and what struck us most wasn't the data but the mood in the room. People were relieved to be having the conversation. To finally sit in a space where the frustrations were named, the shared experiences acknowledged, and the questions that usually get brushed aside were taken seriously. There was a lot of nodding. A fair bit of commiserating. And underneath it all, a quiet sense that this community has been waiting for exactly this. The full report drops in early May. This past Monday evening stayed with us more deeply than we expected. What was meant to be a casual soft launch for the industry report unfolded as an open, generous space where people showed up as they were: honest, vulnerable, and willing to share. 🤝💬 What stood out to us was the diversity in the room, across and beyond VisComm, with different voices coming together with a shared intent to engage and contribute. The conversations carried real weight - from the sharing of the report insights through to the panel, and late into the Q&As. It was one thing for a room to be filled and another entirely for people to stay, to listen, and to keep the dialogue going. That meant a lot to us. We know a little bit about what it feels like to not quite belong so being able to help create a space like this feels deeply timely and meaningful. It is part of our commitment to show up for the next generation, to build platforms that uplift and shape more thoughtful conversations, and in time, real change. 🚀 💙💚 Our heartfelt thanks to @ntucsingapore , @cmpu.ntuc and @vicpasg for your trust and partnership, to every contributor, everyone who joined us, and the 252 of you who took part in the survey. Initiatives like these are not new but this one feels different. Like something being rekindled; a small but important step forward. More to come! The Making VisComm Matter industry report will be shared very soon :)

We're proud to announce the signing of a Collective Agreement with @vicinity_asia on 22 April! Vicinity is a video production firm that has worked hand-in-hand with CMPU on multiple transformation projects delivering real, tangible outcomes for their workers. This agreement builds on that strong foundation, formalising stronger protections and clearer employment terms for the people behind the work. We're especially heartened to see Vicinity taking proactive steps to invest in their employees' growth, including exploring degree-level upgrading opportunities. Thank you to the team at Vicinity Studio for your partnership. Here's to many more milestones together. 🤝

What is the visual communications industry in Singapore really like right now? Late last year, CMPU and @vicpasg , in partnership with @outeredit , set out to find out. 252 practitioners responded to the Making VisComm Matter survey, sharing their experiences on everything from career progression and fair pay to burnout, client dynamics, and what the industry needs to change. The report launch is where those findings become a shared conversation and where the industry begins to shape what comes next, together. Join us for an evening with a panel that spans the full breadth of the industry: from national design policy to the realities of agency life. Moderated by a fellow creative who knows how to hold the room. If VisComm matters to you, this is the conversation to be part of. Yesterday evening, the SPH Production Learning Festival 2026 came to life, made possible by @ntuclearninghub the @sphmediasg Media Academy. More than a milestone, it was a celebration of the Production division's commitment to growth and a reminder that a culture of learning is best built when it's also a little fun. Our union leaders played a key role in shaping the programming, weaving practical microlearning with moments of play. A key focus this year: building real familiarity with AI through hands-on activities, so that workers can engage with these tools with confidence rather than hesitation. Here's to more learning, more upskilling, and an industry that keeps pace with what's ahead.

2025 was a year of celebrating community, listening closely to the voices of individuals in the industry to understand how to serve them better, uplifting our industry partners through resources and recognition, offering upskilling workshops, bringing members together for fun events, and so much more. But most importantly, it was a year of working even harder to empower workers and protect their rights. Onward to the next year - we are excited for things to come!

From January 2026, the Times Publishing Group Employees’ Union (TPGEU) will officially merge with CMPU, strengthening our shared commitment to care for and support TPG workers. Yesterday, we gathered at Times Printers for a warm welcome meal with TPG members. CMPU President David Teo reaffirmed that every worker matters, and expressed heartfelt appreciation to outgoing TPGEU President Brother Andrew Chan for his decades of steadfast leadership since the 1980s, as well as past and present TPGEU leaders who have contributed tirelessly to advancing the welfare of TPG workers over the years. Through our tea-time conversations with TPG leaders and members, we gained valuable insights into their priorities in today’s fast-evolving, tech-driven industry. CMPU remains committed to listening, advocating, and building a sustainable future for our new members. Together with former TPGEU General Secretary Brother Lingam, who will continue serving as a branch leader, as well as TPG management and members, we look forward to advancing workers’ interests and strengthening the Labour Movement as one united family.
