a very dark painting from last year. So dark, I couldn’t really see it as anything other than this midnight hued square, floating on the wall. I had to paint it moving side to side, just so that I could see the surface facture change and figure out my next move.
It probably lives more in space than it does here on earth. Like a celestial body floating through eternity. I love the mystery in it and how quickly it can be written off at first glance. But I love how it rewards the viewer once they slow down and investigate

Happy Friday y’all.
It’s been a minute since I hit the grid. Some big changes for me professionally over the past few months. Bittersweet at times, but I’m trying to leave the bitter behind and just focus on the sweet. Thanks so much for the continued love and support. Exciting times are ahead ♥️

last painting of 2025. A bit of a tribute to my mother who passed last year. It felt good to make it and then to let it go into the world.
I am looking forward to 2026. I feel there is a lot of work ahead of me, but a lot of joy too. Hoping for some peace time, for getting my Sundays back, and for some slow mornings as well.
Sending love to you. And hoping 2026 is your year ♥️

tell me what you see.
Detail of a recently completed painting, which is very dark, and near impossible for my phone to capture. When laying in my bed, staring; I only really see a large, dark, monochromatic painting staring back at me, sort of relieved of detail. It’s only when I get up close and walk side to side can I see the mark, and intention that I had with it.
Just a detail. Plus some behind the scenes on how I title my work 🖤🖤

much of my painting process leans on drawing. I wouldn’t say that I’m a traditional painter when it comes to building composition, layering, palette preparation, or a lot of things. I feel like drawing lets me be a little more nimble and thoughtful to what’s happening with the painting allowing me to be more responsive to what’s in front of me, often dictating what’s next. Maybe it just makes it a little less scary when I’m feeling stuck and need to make a move. Little things

swipe to see friends for scale. A bit of a throwback to one of the first, and one of the largest paintings I’ve completed in my space here in Los Angeles.
Big thanks to @_cary_ for the studio visit and for capturing this shot of @holly_kwak and I in front of a still incomplete painting 💕
