Welcome back to the Cloth Cat Open Mic Night, affectionately known as The Mos Eisley Cantina, bringing together from all over the place to celebrate the wonderful music we have to share with each other. So, we'd love it if you were able to join us, whether to perform yourselves or listen to others.
This week's headliners are The Rayne who perform a rich mix of indie-rock and pop, incorporating a set of self-penned tunes and classic covers. They comprise Bryan Matthews on vocals and acoustic guitar, Jodie Morrison on vocals and Dan Johnson on electric guitar. Bryan, Jodie and Dan met at the Institute for Transport Studies at Leeds University, initially coming together to perform a host of transport-themed covers at uni events.
You can check some of their music out on:

On Friday 12th June, we'll be at the wonderful Wharf Chambers to bring you this fundraiser for the Yorkshire based environmental awareness and solar powered Northern Green Gathering which takes place between 13th and 16th August. We'll give you a musical flavour of the Gathering and the chance to dance. You will hear some of the delights that will be playing at NGG including:
The Good Foot Collective: 14 piece funk and soul band, guaranteed to get you up dancing with pumping tunes from James Brown to Aretha Franklin, Gill Scott Heron and Bill Withers.
Them There Cowboys: bringing you queer country music that imagines a brighter, queerer, anti-colonial tomorrow! Queer country music that puts the red in redneck! Queer country music by three non-binary cowboys who put the West on trial and take Americana to task! Beau Disco, Six-Finger Slick, and René Rose are three good ol’ theys with a taste for the honkiest and tonkiest tunes that make your ass shake, your heart sing, and your fist raised!
Hot Jupiter: whose eclectic mix of repertoire spans your favourite pop songs with their own soul and funk twist.
DJ Splatt: Regularly involved at NGG, Si also runs an annual High Strangeness event, a temporary autonomous zone who is actively in pursuit of the weird, electronica and 'Trance Not Trance': /highstrangeness/

On this election night, we'd love you to come and play for us if you can make it - we can provide the room and equipment, and you can bring the music. Open mics are such a good way to bring people together to test out new material, build your confidence and collaborate with others. And you can form your own Cantina Band, or do your own thing, you're all welcome.
We'll need all you Ewoks to come along and make up the audience too, it should be a fun night.
This week, we're really pleased to welcome back The Blacksocks as our headliners with a quirky blend of covers and originals. They are influenced by pop, Latin and a bit of Madchester thrown in for good measure. Songs on their set list include High Heeled Sneakers, Take the Skinheads Bowling and Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan.
Doors open at 7.30pm and it's free in as always.
Georgia will be your host for the night.
Hope you can make it!

The open mic returns to The Pack Horse this Thursday to round off April so we'd love you to come along to perform or watch a night of live music and entertainment.
Our headliner this week is Limewave who brings you retro synthpop for the modern-day cynic. Blending 80s-inspired sounds and vocals with electric violin and a lot of green, LIMEWAVE takes you on a traverse through the existential, societal and introspective that will leave you nostalgic for a time that never happened. Perfect for those disillusioned with today.
Really looking forward to it and hope you can make it too! 🙂
Doors open at 7.30pm and it's free in as ever.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our birthday open mic last week, it was amazing, and the pizza seemed to go down well!! We're going to be back at The Pack Horse this Thursday for the open mic when we'll be celebrating Leeds! Yes, it's Leeds 400, and 2026 is the 400th anniversary of when the first Royal Charter was given to Leeds by Charles I (yes, he who had his head chopped off by Oliver Cromwell), giving it the powers to have more autonomy and paving the way for it to become a proper city (although this didn't actually happen for a few more hundred years)
So, if you have any songs you'd like to play about our fair city, then please come along and give them a spin, we'd love to hear them. However, it's only a suggestion and you'll be able to play any other songs during the night.
Our headliners, Rum Doodle, have various songs about Leeds including Quarry Hill Flats and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. They are are a folk roots acoustic duo and play mostly their own original songs with influences as broad as Christy Moore & The Dubliners to Bob Dylan & Neil Young. A lot of the material draws it's inspiration from these Islands we live in, be it about our wonderful heritage and different languages to growing up. But most important is the Craic
PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY WILL BE ON AT THE SLIGHTLY EARLIER TIME OF 9.30PM.
Please come along whether you'd like to perform or watch.
Doors open at 7.30pm and it's free in as ever.

It's Cloth Cat's official birthday on this very day and we join the '27' club (although I'm not sure that's a good thing!!) So, we want to have a bit of a party for this edition of our open mic at The Pack Horse, and we'd love you to be there. We're also being supported by Rudy's restaurant in Headingley for this occasion and they will be providing pizzas for audience and performers alike so get down early and a huge 'Thank You' to @wearerudyspizza
This week, our headliners, for this momentous occasion, are The Beer Snobs, a 3 piece band with many and varied influences playing mainly original material with great bass lines, beats and catchy choruses you may find yourself singing along to straight away! They feature our very own Arthur from The Dailey Fix on our community radio station, CCB, and they don't drink any John Smith's Smooth muck!! 🙂
Come on down, it's FREE in as always with a totally voluntary collection for the band so please don't let that put you off coming.
Doors open at 7.30pm and Georgia will be the compere for the night.
Hope to see you there! 🙂
Thanks to everyone who’s been along to the open mic over the last few weeks, you have been astounding.
We'd love you to come and play for us this week if you can make it - we can provide the room and equipment, and you can bring the music. Open mics are such a good way to bring people together to test out new material, build your confidence and collaborate with others.
This week, our headliner is Ruby Wheeler, a York based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist paving her own path in the UK's country & western and Americana scene. With influences including Orville Peck, Kacey Musgraves, George Strait, and The Chicks, her music draws inspiration from many decades and facets of country music.
"Ruby Wheeler is one to watch - a fresh voice with vintage soul, bringing cowboy country to new audiences with heart, humour, and undeniable style." - countrymusic.co.uk
Please come down, give Ruby your support, play some tunes or do some spoken word, comedy or magic! You will be more than welcome.
Doors open at 7.30pm and, as ever, it's free in with a whipround for our headliner.
Georgia will be your host! 🙂

What another great night we had last week for the open mic, with acts from as far apart as Milton Keynes and Newcastle gracing the hallowed Pack Horse stage.
This week we have Reight (pronounced 'Reyt' (just as you'd expect, in proper Yorkshire dialect!) Twang as our featured band. Incorporating jangly guitars, catchy hooks, and some northern soul classic pop sensibilities with a raw, energetic edge, Reight Twang blend ska, punk, funk and rock into a dancefloor-filling sound.
You can be a part of the night too so if you'd like to play, just turn up with your instrument and we'll do the rest (well, apart from playing of course!)
Doors open at 7.30pm and it's free in as ever, with a collection for the band. Georgia will be your host this week.
We can't wait!!

Come along to The Pack Horse this Thursday for another night of open mic, we'd love to see and hear you play if you'd like, but you are more than welcome to be a part of the audience. We've had some great nights recently and we're sure this will be another cracker.
Our headliners are Aelfen, playing fiddle tunes from around the world arranged in a unique folk rock style that just has to be danced to! And we definitely encourage that 🙂
Doors open at 7.30pm and it's free in as always, with a whipround for the band :-)
