From Taupō to Christchurch, it’s been a big couple of weeks for our Sustainable Event Waste Management team on the ground at the @supercarschampionship NZ Double Header 🏁♻️
Our Australian and New Zealand crews worked side by side across both weekends, managing multiple waste streams, supporting vendors, and keeping systems running under pressure in a live event environment.
Not without its challenges. Severe weather saw a full day of racing in Taupō cancelled, but the team reset quickly and came back strong for an epic second weekend in Christchurch.
A huge effort from everyone involved. Long days, tough conditions, and a lot happening behind the scenes to keep materials in play.
Proud of the team on this one – looking forward to seeing the final results roll in.

Across April, our Australian and New Zealand sustainable event waste management teams will be joining forces in New Zealand to support event sustainability at the @supercarschampionship 2026 ITM NZ Double Header in Taupō and Christchurch, as well as @ultranewzealand in Wellington.
Then our Australian site team will finish the month off back on home soil at the @ballaratmarathon in Victoria.

What a week!
Our team has just wrapped up five full days on the ground at the @melbflowershow , with bump out still in full swing.
From sunshine to sudden downpours, Melbourne delivered everything – but it didn’t slow the operation. Across the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, our Sustainable Event Waste Management team kept the event running clean while hand-sorting waste and capturing materials across multiple streams.
Events like this aren’t just about collection; they’re about design. From bin placement and signage to vendor packaging and on-the-ground education, every element plays a role in what actually gets recovered.
Because diversion doesn’t happen by accident.
We’re proud to have partnered with MIFGS since 2022, working together each year to deliver a more circular event.

More than 90,000 attendees, two high energy days and 100+ dedicated sustainable event waste staff working across the site.
Last weekend, our @closedloopevents team were at @electricavenuefestival at Hagley Park in Christchurch - keeping the site clean while managing and sorting waste behind the scenes to maximise landfill diversion.
While festivalgoers enjoyed the music and atmosphere, our crew was working across the site to ensure materials were handled responsibly and kept out of landfill wherever possible.
From early starts to late finishes, it was a huge team effort from a passionate team committed to making a positive environmental impact.

What a fabulous way to bring in the new year at @whenpigsfly__festival with such an amazing diversion turn out!
@closed_loop ’s Sustainable Event Waste Management team were on site hand-sorting the waste which achieved an incredible result - 85% of waste diverted from landfill. At the NYE event, 6,500 drinks were served in reusable cups thanks to @bettercup_ helping avoid 52kg of single-use waste going to landfill 👏

Planning a sustainable event? Here’s one tip that will help minimise waste and transport costs, but also make your event more sustainable!
➡️ Anticipate what waste outputs you will have
Are you attendees likely to bring items from home, are they likely to leave things on location for convenience, are they likely to buy items with large volumes of packaging waste or other waste?
By understanding what outputs you will have, you can organise collection and disposal effectively. In some cases, it may even require pre-event communications to prevent or limit these outputs ...
As an example, picnic mats are commonly disposed at music festivals and large entertainment gathering. While they are light weight, they are quite large and can significantly impact waste and transport costs. By anticipating this, organisers can organise, plan and communicate with stakeholders to limit waste.
