Our CLOSED LOOP organic composter uses natural microbes and heat to transform around 260kg of food waste each week into nutrient-rich compost, dramatically reducing methane emissions and returning goodness straight back to our onsite kitchen gardens.

Join us for our first Kitchen Garden Tour of 2026 on Friday, 27 February.
Bells Grounds Manager and Horticulturist Megan Jackson will guide guests through our abundant kitchen gardens, sharing insights into our organic growing techniques, closed-loop composting system and the seasonal produce grown onsite.
Tours run from 11am – 12pm and include tea or coffee and a pastry from Bells Bakery on arrival.
Complimentary for in-house guests | $15 per person

From world-class racing to world-class sustainability 🌱
The 2025 ICF Slalom World Championships didn’t just inspire on the water, they left a lasting impact on the community. Through partnerships with Penrith City Council and Closed Loop, waste from the event has been given a second life, from recycled cups turned into roads to compost reused in local parks and sporting fields.
Long after the crowds have gone, the Championships continue to make a difference, proving that small choices at major events can create big change for our environment and our communities. 💚♻️

This summer’s harvest from the Bells kitchen garden has brought an abundance of fresh herbs and greens — radicchio, parsley, basil, rocket, kale, sage and a variety of edible flowers.
Our vegetables are also coming into their own, with cucumbers, green and yellow beans, zucchini and zucchini flowers, carrots, cabbage and a selection of heirloom and cherry tomatoes making their way into the kitchen and onto your plate.

#Sydney2025 showed that world-class sport and sustainability can go hand in hand. Through renewable energy, circular waste solutions, and active transport initiatives, the event reduced its environmental footprint. 🌱
Educational programs with local partners, including @closed_loop , @penrithcitycouncil , @sydneywater and @penrithlakeseec , also inspired the community, creating a legacy that will influence future events including Brisbane 2032. 🌟
