Cat firmly out of the bag! You may remember the Wing Rig from 2023 which didn't end up working. Well, it's been two years of on and off planning, and these are the result.
They're lighter, maybe a quarter of the original rig weight, and on a fixed frame. I've got some final painting to do and those shoulder pieces (the black bits) to make, and we're good!

For Loxwood! Months ago I was approached by Equestrienne Stunts for a very exciting commission: caparisons for their team of horses at Loxwood! Loxwood has been dear to me for almost a decade and being able to dress the Joust has been so much fun.
There are three sets in use at Loxwood with a fourth mystery set yet to be revealed. All the caparisons are lined, reinforced, and washable.

Another proof of concept piece available! This time it's the femme version of the trick riding waistcoat, in black/green and it also ended up reversible if you don't mind a bit of wrangling of the zip.

Finished this "accidentally reversible" zip-up waistcoat! The request was for neoprene sides to allow for a greater range of movement without the waistcoat looking baggy, road testing the design this week.

Though I am impressed that she looks at these wings and doesn't mind them.
Observations so far: I need another person on the ground. I need a taller mounting block or to be given the wings once already mounted up. I need better shoes.
I don't want to mount up from the floor because I know I'll wrench the saddle over and I don't find that polite for the horse.
As the harness fixes you into position and means I can't turn, a ton of cues need refining. My body language is completely different because I can't physically shift the way I do without a giant backpack on!

More training with the Wing Rig. I've put a molasses brick down for Poppy because standing her on a marker wasn't working tonight. Poppy isn't unaware of what I'm doing just because she has food.
