Starting Wednesday in Bend, this week is going to be special. One of the most ferocious funk drummers on the planet is joining us at The Domino Room… and he also happens to be one of the finest soul singers in the country. Jamcruise 2026 Artist-at-Large Cliff Porter is touring with Watkins Glen as our drummer — and lead vocalist on roughly half the material. Some of you may have caught him just a few weeks ago lighting up the ship, or out on tour with Jelly Bread. When Cliff locks into a groove and leans into the mic from behind the kit, the entire room lifts. On keys, the world-class Maxwell Friedman. On bass, the rock-solid Mark Karwan. I’ll be on guitar and vocals alongside him. We’ll be digging deep into the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, The Band, and Little Feat — while weaving in some serious ‘70s soul and funk heat in that deep-pocket sweet spot. And I’ve got to say… the setlists for this run are some of the most dynamic I’ve ever written. They move. They breathe. They hit peaks and valleys. They get greasy. They soar. It honestly feels like we’re holding a backstage secret right now. Because the goal has never been to simply cover this music. We are not copycats. The goal is to deliver these songs in ways the original creators dreamed of but didn’t quite have the circumstances to achieve — and to channel the better angels in the room while we do it. To let the spirits play us. To tap into that current that Deadheads and seekers recognize when the veil gets thin and something bigger takes over. That’s when the magic shows up. And when it does, it’s the kind most bands don’t even come close to touching. If you’ve ever felt something real like I’m describing at a Watkins Glen show, Wednesday is the one to circle. Hometown kickoff. Doors at 8. Music shortly after. Let’s pack it and raise the bar together.
