The Tars T-1 80% is a pretty impressive prebuilt TKL available at a respectable $189 price tag.
It has a super foamy sound, snappy switches, and that screen actually being customizable yet useful just makes the whole thing feel dialed, especially for a beginner recommendation.
Design is straight robotic vibes too which you guys know I love.
TARS would approve.
Clean, precise, and built like it belongs on a mission — the T1 is easily up there with boards like the TKD Cycle 7 in terms of sheer build quality. Every keypress feels sharp and intentional, and the sound profile is just right, I have never heard the stabs of a pre build sound this clean straight out of the box, they don't need any tweaking!!
And that LED screen? Let’s just say… productivity has taken a slight detour. Been playing Snake on it way more than I’d like to admit.

Setup Sunday with the Machina Tiga ☀️
Built this board on stream Thursday and my goodness, the blend of materials is gorgeous both visually, and in hand. Topped it off with one of my favorite sets, GMK Tiramisu. The sound came out bright and clacky which is right up my alley. Great work as always @machina.syd 🤌🏻
Also grabbed the Fractal Wallpapers from @robert.mccombe 👌🏼 I love the color variety and overall quality. I’ll definitely be picking up more from him.
Recently got a much needed haircut and went back to this short and textured style. It’s been perfect for the spring heat and humidity in Texas.

A pre-built TKL with a lot of fun colors and some really cool features. The screen can be used to display GIFS, your WPM while typing or keys pressed. Or it can be used to play some games like snake haha.

Building off the success of V1, this board is back for another round. Here are some improvements from V2:
• Pogo pins making it easier to build; no hassling with cables (the main PCB to the XT column does use a very small ribbon cable, though).
• The sides are dual-curved giving it a sleeker look.
• An upgraded 149-LED matrix with side-facing LEDs.
• A brass mid-frame paired with a leaf-spring gasket mount.
It's pretty cool that you can decide where you want the LED box (top or bottom) with plenty of lighting options in VIA. It's super comfortable to type on with a bouncy typing feel with a decent sound. The side volume knob is also really convenient.
It was a small pain in the butt dealing with those small gaskets and the brass-mid frame. I did have to force break it as well but that was a simple modification. Lastly, it leans on the more expensive side (starting at $350).

This is the Sonic170 v2. It’s got a super clean design, vibrant sound signature, and a soft, plush typing feel. The design is what really stands out though, every angle has its own thing going on, from the lighting module to the cross light strip, knob, and those smooth side curves. It’s just so easy on the eyes. 😅
It’s a bit pricier than some recent boards, but you can see why. If you want something that looks as good as it sounds, this is a solid pick.
