Cleveland-Cliffs hosted Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and Assistant Secretary for Mine Health and Safety Chris Williamson at its Tilden Mine in Negaunee MI.
After taking a tour of the open-pit iron ore mine, the visitors joined Chief Operating Officer Cliff Smith, Chief Financial Officer Celso Goncalves, union and business leaders, mine workers, and safety experts for a roundtable discussion on how federal investments and policies promote "Made In America" products and good jobs in U.S. manufacturers’ steel supply chains. During the roundtable, participants discussed the essential contributions of Michigan miners to the U.S. manufacturing economy.
Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works is featured in the DOE video highlighting the project underway to further reduce its emissions. The operation produces electrical steel critical for the nation's electrical grid.

Cleveland-Cliffs hosted United States Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan, together with the Director of District 10 of the United Steelworkers (USW) Bernie Hall, at its Coatesville, PA mill. This visit followed USTR’s recent final determination relating to increased Section 301 tariffs on imports of steel, electric vehicles and various manufacturing components from China. They discussed the importance of supporting the domestic steel industry and the benefits of investing in the American steel worker. Mrvan, co-chair of the Congressional Steel Caucus, is an advocate of strong trade policy that levels the playing field for manufacturing in America.
