Kuala Lumpur is not a perfect city. We all know that. But you can’t hate something into a version you love. It is precisely the love of a community that will cultivate the growth of a city — and I hope this video is able to inspire a little bit of that.
My submission for #KLUnseenStory by #KLFest: I first drafted this video a while ago and found it serendipitous that there was this open call for videos on KL. As a Melakan girl who’s now working in the heart of KL, I have a lot of gratitude and wonder for the city. I love taking the train and feeling the pulse of its people. It’s frustrating, but that’s life. Even when we all get packed like sardines, I find beauty in the way we all spill out of the train, a school of fish, down the escalators. We facelessly blend into the crowd, one and the same, but each with unique tapestries and trajectories.
