A mark on wood, a barely discernible impression, a shadow, left by food, which never fully disappears. A trace remains, and what is left is both present and absent. Who ate here? What did they talk about? Which dishes were prepared? These questions are the starting point for the installation archipelago in sauce by the Deball class at the Kunstakademie Münster.
Preparing and sharing meals together, the artists explored the various meanings of cooking and eating. For one thing, cooking is an act of caring. Further, recipes - even if they’re not written down but passed on orally - carry memo-ries, stories and traditions. Stories such as these become audible through an audio track played in the exhibition; they are visible on the tables and are transported through different smells.
On Saturday 24 May, 14 June and 19 July, the class invites you to join them to cook together on the forecourt of the Dortmunder U
from 1 to 7 pm.
