Sometimes these magical little things just come together. This is an excerpt from a morning of exploration with some of my favorite collaborators and a new friend. Thank you @iamherscules for creating the impromptu jam session!

🌊✨Meet the Creatives Behind Arias Aloft
Ellen Waylonis (she/her) and Kathryn McKellar (she/her) — longtime multifaceted performers, educators, and arts advocates in their respective fields — began collaborating in 2022 on a mission to explore how music and movement can come together to reflect the world around us.
Together, they created Arias Aloft, a performance series that brings opera and circus artists into dynamic collaboration. With a shared commitment to artistic excellence and accessibility, they craft experiences that invite audiences of all ages into wonder, reflection, and joy.
In Rising Waters, Rising Voices, they draw on the unique talents of each performer to explore humanity’s deep connection to Earth’s waterways. Aligned with Boston Lyric Opera’s new climate initiative, this production blends opera, musical theatre, and cabaret classics with breathtaking original circus acts — a one-of-a-kind performance designed to move, inspire, and ignite conversation.
Some lovely photos by T-stop Pictures from last weekend’s show. I had so much fun reviving this table-top ensemble choreo and creating a new hoop duo with @shapeshifteraerial !
