My graduation project "The Room Without Air" will be on show during @dutchdesignweek :)!
“I am in a bright room where I cannot breathe. An elevator takes me down to a claustrophobic control room. I feel anxious; I have to manage all those buttons and levees, but I don’t know what they do.” This scene is my first recurring dream written down. What defines our human reality? By using the symbolism of a personal dream archive, ‘The Room Without Air’ reflects on the relationship between the dreamworld and waking life. This took shape as a knitted tapestry, composed of illustrations from the surreal imagery of 16 dreams. Made on a circular knitting machine, the piece uses open and closed knitted structures and optical colour mixing to bring the dreams into the tactile world.
Made in collaboration with the @textielmuseum last year.

Le collectif EDITH est en résidence jusqu’au 19.12.25 et présentera ses productions pour le 𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐓 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆.
1ère partie : les yeux plus gros que le vent.
Nous avions construit un mobile, une analogie directe du travail collaboratif, suspendant nos prototypes qui tournoyaient doucement dans la pièce tandis que le public y passait.
2ème partie : The wind in your hands.
La question était maintenant : un cerf-volant doit-il voler pour être cerf-volant?
Jusqu’où peut-on étendre la définition de quelque chose d’aussi élémentaire qu’un cerf volant ?
Nous reconnaissons qu’il y a tout un spectre des objets volants avec à une extrémité les avions, qui ont un contrôle dans tous les axes de mouvement pour un temps donné de carburant, et de l’autre, une pierre, qui tombe. Nos objets se situent quelque part entre ces deux extrêmités.

Some drawings of dreams that were part of the process for my grad project 'The Room Without Air':
1. Me, stuck in a control room, not knowing what to do.
2. A butterfly over a town made of plaster.
3. Someone does a horrible haircut on my head with weird color patches.
4. Beautiful kites float above mountains.
5. People have to give back their alpaca sweaters to the government because alpacas don't have fur anymore, so a machine recycles the sweaters into new furs.
