Now that’s a sight I like to see… At the start of this month Dad was in town for some record shopping and a peruse about the town. We’ve been doing little record pilgrimages like this to London for nearly 15 years or so now and this time we experimented with a two day format of shopping. To immortalise this affair we recorded a show highlighting our finds. Very grateful to say I’m playing this Friday at @referencepoint180 for the @excursions.listening party. They’re championing the deep cuts culture in a beautiful space which has given me the absolute thrill of pulling out some of my favourite finds. The plan is to play lots of groovy material; starting with a bit of reggae/disco/latin/pop rock before later getting into the bumpier sounds. There’ll be a Jorge Ben tune or two to celebrate his 86th birthday last month, there’ll be some Turkish rock records I found in Crouch End recently, before we settle in on the home run with a few deep dance rhythms as night descends.
