figure it out (a temporary commune) is togetherness-in-difference, collaborating in an intergenerational, multiracial, cross-class, inter-disciplinary, and equitable creative process.

we are thrilled to be co-presenting keyon gaskin’s new solo “uncty: a mid life ex(pectancy/istential) performance” in collaboration with the lab, rot, and gravity
if you haven’t seen their work before, you gotta come through. and if you have seen it, you know you gotta be there
To everyone who participated, made something happen, volunteered at the door, flew through the air, climbed on something, hung out with a friend while laying on cardboard, chipped in, dropped out, and figured it out THANK YOUUUU
The seven rugs are cleaned and given away. The shorts and aerial fabric are washed. All the aerial everything is back where it belongs. The tent is de-installed and folded, bagged, and stored. The hill dismantled and stored for “next time.” The torn cardboard has been recycled and excess foam has been taken to the dump. The sound equipment, bells, cables and everything are sorted on a shelf ready to be needed again. Wall stains cleaned and floor mopped.
Deep deep gratitude to each and all for making dreams come true, for trusting, for not trusting, and for showing up either way.
We love this life and each of you for making it possible, fun, thrilling, and affirming. We did something truly incredible. The ripples will ripple for a long time.
Come share some time and space gathering in the spirit of connection and liberation by sharing texts from some of your favorite black authors.
This is a time to vibe, read, discover, or discuss, and engage in the practice of study that Fred Moten speaks about.
Let’s get together to figure it out, gathering not just to learn but to be in relationship, exploring joy struggle, and imagination, together. We can deepen our questions, nurture collective power and find some beauty in this mess.
