.:. celebrating another bday on this 27th of Nov w/ some footage from an upscale edition of #themeetingoftheminds aka @circleofminds .:. grateful to share a birhtday with these inspiring beings .:. although the pics of Jimi and Bruce are common, I remember when I first saw this Chadwick quilt at the Black American Portraits exhibit a couple years ago at LACMA by the incredible @bisabutler and was completely blown away .:. .:. from playing and performing music as a kid while also learning martial arts at that time and then getting into filmmaking in my early teens which is what i ended up going to college for and what my dad and grandpa were passionate about, I’m so excited to continue to dive deeper into all these art forms .:. now that I’m combining elements from each in my first album and dome show it feels like everything is coming full circle .:. .:. footage on the following slides is from the meeting of the minds upscale edition captured by @studio637 in 2015 which was an event i co-produced with my friend of 20+ years @markaustinkelton and his band @thesonicescape who did a music based tribute to jimi hendrix .:. .:. the theme was the power of love with the intention of highlighting communities and love based art which included speakers, facilitators, poets and dancers as well as a social hour .:. shout out to our fellow jimi tribute performers featured in the videos @howtowild & @adam.roa .:. .:. looking forward to sharing a bunch of footage in the coming months as well as bringing back #themeetingoftheminds upscale editions soon and having friends from the @circleofminds perform .:.

.:. sometimes during our @circleofminds group conversations & improve music jams at @studio70la we screen music documentary trailers highlighting groups from the 1960s and 1970s since everything inside the loft/rooftop except the tv is from that time period .:. .:. I watched this documentary on @fannyrocks_1970 for the first time about 6 months ago, which was recommended to me from my mom, and found it to be one of the most inspiring music docs I've ever seen .:. .:. what's cool is when I showed it to the group, everyone loved it and my two friends who are Filipino that attended Kri & @vinniekrypto shared that it was especially inspiring for them since most of the women that have been in the band #fanny are Filipino as well .:. .:. as we step into this exciting renaissance of more women picking up instruments, music production & engineering we can thank groups like #fannymusic for being some of the trailblazers .:. .:. cheers to more #circleofminds sessions coming soon .:.

.:. so excited to share these clips from one of our @circleofminds sessions on 10/10 at @studio70la w/ @lanzhujian @therealcaspark @forefeather @joshmoreland @the_name_is_dame @grid_music & Mike .:. .:. the topic this night was manifesting our dream venues and we recorded this from 1 am - 2 am after we saw our friends @thequincat & @6lack perform live at the @youtubetheater .:. if we seem tired and our voices are shot is cause we were singing loud at the concert .:. .:. as each person shared we created improv music in the background & at the end we made a song which we will perform at our big event next year .:. .:. looking forward to having more of my offchain & #onchainmusic friends join us for future #circleofminds sessions .:. .:. full episode on youtube linked in my bio via X .:. .:. future episodes will eventually all be #onchain once we get our audio dialed in .:.

Excited to share a few photos from part 1 of @themeetingoftheminds 10 year anniversary from a couple weeks ago. Shoutout to @eric.spiv.is.ur.plug for being part of this since the beginning as well as @kkcorrey for hosting us at his spot @studio70la & special thanks to @algorhythm.live for taking these pics and also being here since the beginning. These gatherings started at a loft/rooftop in 2013 on Melrose called @studio70la originally to meet up and help plan a festival a bunch of our friends at @xanaduevents.co were organizing on #CatalinaIsland called #Xanadu in 2013. After the festival ended we kept the loft/rooftop going with themed group conversations & an open mic for whoever wanted to share a piece of art on that topic & thus the #themeetingoftheminds concept was born. Since then we've hosted 50 group conversations and music jams at this wonderful space (where everything inside is from the 60s & 70s) in addition to upscale events at bigger venues and friend field trips around the city& soon country & world. In those ten years we've connected over 1,000 creatives and entrepreneurs with tons of collaborations as well as best friendships, relationships, marriages, and a couple babies from our in love attendees as well. This year we introduced a new format called #circleofminds which is improvising music while people are sharing their thoughts on the open mic, still with a topic or theme each time to guide. Then we record the conversations and will release a video podcast that will help get to know the artists and co-creators more intimately before seeing them at our larger events in the future. Similar to what we did with #Xanadu More details on that to come. Music by our brother @therealcaspark whose been jamming with us at the rooftop since 2014. .:. as we celebrate 10 years of @themeetingoftheminds this month, we will be posting old photos & videos from our gatherings at @studio70la over the last decade starting with this album which will focus on our very first rooftop hangs back in the summer of 2013 before the open mic concept was fully realized .:. .:. backstory : moved to laurel canyon after finishing film & business school .:. turned 3 story house overlooking the canyon into an artist/entrepreneur gathering space which included an art gallery, vinyl record player & I specifically wanted a big bean bag chair to round it out .:. met kevin for the beanbag, talked for 6 hours about music, film, art, and life and for 10 years have been hosting small to large group conversations & open mics at this loft & rooftop where everything inside except the tv is from the 1960s/70s .:. lately I’ve been subletting it 10 days every 60 & hosting circular music jams inside .:. .:. next post will be about @thexanadulife & @xanaduevents.co which we hosted team meetings here before the first catalina island festival .:. they are also celebrating their 10 year anniversary this month .:.
