Carbonized Records is pleased to reissue the “Sepulchral Lacerations” Demo and “Scapulimancy” Full-Length from Hedonist, on CD and Cassette respectively.
The ancient stench of war follows Hedonist on their campaign of destruction! Formed in 2020, this four-piece Death Metal band hails from Victoria, British Columbia, and brings forth a ferocious exhibition of power amidst morbid undercurrents of disaster in the vein of Bolt Thrower, Nihilist, Entombed, and Dismember, where death takes bearing on the facade of life.
The band released their “Sepulchral Lacerations” Demo in 2021. Four years later, they unleashed their debut Full-Length, “Scapulimancy”, through Southern Lord Recordings. Following the release of their first album, Hedonist would tour most of North America supporting Carcass, Brujeria, and Necrot. Then immediately flying to Japan for a two week tour across the country. “Scapulimancy” received numerous top-spots on Favorite Album Year-End Lists worldwide as well as selling out of the first Vinyl pressing before the end of 2025.
“Sepulchral Lacerations” was Recorded, Mixed, and Mastered at Circle A Studios with Cover Artwork by Adam Kindred. “Scapulimancy” was Recorded and Mixed by Cody Baresich at Circle A Studios with Drum Tracking by Derek Mattin at Silverside Sound, Pre-Mastering by Julian Marrs at Marrs Audio and Mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege with Artwork by Adam Kindred.

Stoked to have these in the collection and put them through their paces. I had to build these preamps from @capigear and I haven't taken on a task quite like this before. Luckily first time was the charm and there's no issues in the build.
They will most likely end up being the main workhorse preamps for everything the studio does, and just in time for what band starts recording tomorrow 👀.

On my tour to Japan in October, I was pleasantly surprised to find the LANGUID LP "Shove Their System Up Their Ass" that I had mixed the previous October at Punk and Destroy record shop in Osaka.
I feel honored that it such a sick band trusted me to mix their album.

I believe this record came out in 2018. Me and Mike previously met about 8 or so years before this record, in the local punk scene. In 2016, Mike had moved back to Victoria BC after living in England, and we recorded some guitars, bass and vocals for his project Thankless Graft. It was the beginning of a long working relationship. The next project we worked on was for this first NO HEART record. Both Will and Jordan also became people who I would go on to working alot with over the years. I'm grateful to have cool/chill/nice people to continue to work on music projects over the years with.
Will had previous recording experiences and had a clear vision for what he desired in a drum tone. We did a very minimal microphone setup on this recording. I believe 2 overheads, a subkick, and a snare mic. Not my normal setup but it was a nice challenge and ended up being a bit more of a unique drum tone than other recordings.
Anyways it's 2025 not 2018, and we are still recording new stuff to this day.

(2012) Prior to this album, I had previously worked with SixBrewBantha for mixing the material that they had self-recorded on a 4 track for their @archagathus_grind split. I thought they were a great band with something special. Myself being a person who has had a harder time getting into great bands that have less than optimal recordings, I remember pestering Mark, Bryan and Tyler to let me record them properly, whilst keeping in mind their love for all things noisy and raw (re: the Perpetual Debt intro). Luckily, they agreed.
We set up a mobile recording rig in their jam space. A concrete basement with a short ceiling. I vaguely remember the drums being a Yamaha stage custom kit with the snare wires turned off, and Mark using a DOD Fat Pig distortion pedal. The recording must have happened over a weekend. I later brought the tracks home and mixed them. The songs were mastered by Dan Randall, I believe.
I feel like this album went on to propel this band into some well-deserved recognition. A very interesting and unique take on the grindcore genre.
Re-organized the vinyl wall. If you record with me and get a chance to put it out on vinyl, I'll gladly add your record to the display.
Does anyone have any leads on some good quality CD and Cassette displays? A lot of bands I record don't end up doing vinyl, but still have quality releases that I would also like to display.
I'm going to start posting some of my past work on here. Mostly the one's you'll see are recordings that had some impact, or have some good memories associated with them.
LEPER - "End Progress" LP 2009
I did play drums and do some vocals in this band, but this was one of the first recordings where I felt I was getting to a place of quality that I wanted to achieve. The live room was a small room with low ceilings, with carpet and egg cartons all over, and the mix room was an untreated bedroom with the desk off to one side. I listen back now and can hear all the results of not having a proper acoustically treated space to work in. That aside, the only other issue that bugged me is the kick drum being buried or not cutting enough.
At the time, I had barely had a grasp on what the concept of mastering was, so unfortunately this recording made it out into the world un-mastered. Luckily that didn't stop the record from doing well. I was surprised to see that one of the songs hit 129,000 views on YouTube.

It inspired me (15 years later in 2024) to "re-master" the album. You can find both original and remastered versions on Spotify.
