A stellar handpicked BIPOC team of vendors, that’s what they got! Along with our colleagues, we collectively knew what to do when the moody sky and monsoon rain unleashed, experienced vendors handle it! Bringing back the intimacy of dinner soirées, by curating the scene. Take a peek into our personal world, at home for a very intimate Halloween dinner (yeah, we know it’s almost Christmas!) Here’s what we did: A handful of guests (my besties), a dope environment (my pad, a historic 1896 Victorian Flat), ambient lighting (hang bistro lights in your house, totally ok!) along with lotsa candles, everywhere. Select a color palette that makes you feel luxe, fragrance in the air that is luring and subtle, such as woodsy vanilla in a faint musk for a full vibe. Curate tabletop pieces for decor (or just rent from us, Circa Rentals!) that evoke a sense of nostalgia, feels modern and sparks convos. Provide a meal that is relatable and comforting, don’t get crazy on bougie menus (pasta works perfectly!) to make it fun, have a potluck but set the specifics so that the meal blends well. Festive drinks, good wine and good weed (if it’s legal in your neck of the woods)! Last but certainly not least and probably the most important, the music, curate playlists ahead of time that set three scenes - First Playlist should welcome your guests and encourage them to mingle. Second one, should be played during dinner, soft and romantic that blends and sets your senses on - taste and sound. Your final playlist, post dinner vibes that can invite a dance party in your living room, fun and themed that ties in all the feels! I mean the phrase, “Cut a Rug” began somewhere. Need a little help, guys! I wish this was a beautiful Thanksgiving post spilling out how grateful I am for everything in life (I totally am). However, I can’t sit here with good grace and voice a lie. I have sat here for hours trying to gather myself to have the courage to be vulnerable, a sentiment that is rather foreign to me. So here it goes…. A couple of nights ago we @circarentals (our small family business) were burglarized at our new location in Joshua Tree, we discovered the aftermath yesterday(11/26) as we walked in to our shop to see that ALL of our inventory was ransacked, picked apart to pieces. A combination of over a decade of carefully curated pieces that hold special meaning to us, that has brought so much joy to many. Our livelihood that has our traces of blood, sweat and tears - gone, just like that. Our supplies,tools and equipment that we need to execute flawlessly, all gone. We can’t even wrap our heads our even have a full account of what was taken as we are still trying to process the loss. They took thousands from us, but most they took our hopes and dreams along with them. We have NEVER had this happen to us since our beginning in 2012. It’s real, it happened and now we’re left in a haze, trying to dust ourselves off. The realization that this could end Circa Rentals, a business we built from scratch, with just a little dream and a vision of how we can bring something beautiful to people in their most special of moments. It’s been a family affair since day one, just us. We built a niche, a space for us in the vast industry and have amazing colleagues in all forms. The families and repeat clients trust that we have acquired along the way is priceless to us - with that we have gratitude on this Thanksgiving Day.
