Searching my archives for some Kinpotik exsample, I found this forgoten 2015 project. Shot on Sony F65 and set of Kinoptiks that belongs to NFB. Lenses ware so yellowed from the Thorium deterioration that there was no way we could escape this color cast. NFB was so kind to lend me Kinopticks for the shoot, but the deal was that we should not change or modified in any way. This set of Kinoptiks spent ther years in display cabinter and lack of any UV light made them to go completely wild. Also adapteur for original Kinoptik mount was artisanal and made just to hold the lens in place. Needles to say that pulling focus was realy a tricky affair... I also had to shut my mouth and not tell anyone how radiactiv thees lenses are or there was a real danger that they woukd be declared dangerous and destroyed. One day if I get the blood cancer, most probably it will be from this and similar shoots and my intense fiddling with Thorium and rare earth glass in last 20 years. #kinoptikparis
It was a crazy start of July in @cineground ! Unexpectedly out of blue we ended up in a crazy adventure. @christophecollettecsc@nicocanniccioni , @maxlapdop and my self, ended up with coolest bunch of 35mm film cameras. We have might pair of Penelopes now with 3 and 2 Perf movements, Moviecam Compact MK2 with 4 and 3-perf movement and loaded 235 with 4, and 3-perf as well... we have allready started upgrades and we have incoming HD-SDI video taps, battery solutions and a lot of new and custom rigging... it will take some time to put our new project to the order but once we are ready we will be offering a unque option to the film makers. As someone who shoots film I can't be happier that finally we will have a real and viable option to shoot 2-perf 35mm on the narrative. With two penelopes in 2-perf and 9 mags we will be able to offer this unque service and option for a anyone who is willing to shoot next project on Film. I canr stress enough how important is to have 2 bodies on a long and demanding project ... also waht is interesting to know is that 2-perf 35mm is in fact only 25% more expensive than S16 to shoot. I just realized that I have never posted up the this on IG... realy interesting film shot with fabulous team @rabahaitou@sosa_mms , Booker Sim and @filmssolutions . shot on Red Monstro and Xelmus anamorphic + Lomo round fronts totally handheld. Look of this film was in the extremes: scoring sun in the prison yards and mid day empty packinglots to the obscure darkness of the trap houses, back streets and dodgy penthouses. Dark and saturated colors, contrast and anamorphic flair that run wild... #OPPS
