This is quite nice. Really grassy and bright to open, almost a hint of peppermint, before heading straight into a sweet, sherried poached pear. Soft, smooth, and very quaffable.

I got this for a steal at auction, and cracked it during my wedding as a treat. What a joy to find myself in such a spot to be cracking it again, having had an offer accepted on a house, and accepting an offer on our flat. A truly celebratory delight, aiding in finishing open bottles to make the move easier! 🥃

Well if it isn't Burns night, and a dram to go with it. As I'm not indulging in a haggis dinner, I feel a rather indulgent dram is a suitable replacement. Big hits of hay and grassiness with poached apple, getting softly sweeter before culminating in an oily orange finish.

I don't drink a lot of Springbank, so didn't really know what to expect when picking this up. But it delivers at every stage, each flavour seamlessly moving into the next. Wonderfully balanced and punchy. What a treat for big Rab - don't forget to leave a dram out for him tonight or he won't leave a haggis for you! Slàinte 🥃

Dunno who decided that pickles should be in gin cocktails, but a big smokey Octomore Rob Roy with a Gilda on top, is an absolute delight on a Friday night. Fish and chips in a glass. Salty, smokey, spicy. Class.

I've had the good fortune to come across some excellent drams this year at auction, that were quickly locked away to enjoy at my wedding a few weeks ago. My groomsmen and I toasted with the 90s Blue Label, which was then unceremoniously knocked out of my hand and painted the road. So do I stick with whats open, or venture into realms unknown with the Ballantines? Or let's be honest - both?

Seeing out the year with a delightful wee drop. Glenfarclas for me is always a delish dram, and incredibly underrated. Full on fruity nose, with a nutty creamy finish, the fifteen is a perfect dram for this evening (spy the plum and apple braised lamb shoulder behind it). I did once drunkenly buy a 1960s, 40yo Glenfarclas at auction - in lieu of cracking that, the 15 is a perfect companion for the bells

Recently had the privilege of touring the distillery with the @wovenwhisky team as part of our Christmas do. Stunning place, with direct fired stills and classic dunnage warehouses. Great distillery, great dram, and what a great year! Slàinte! 🥃

Chicken hot sauce 🐔🌶️

That's the tasting note I gave @malted_pete when he first gave me this to try. Don't think he was particularly on board with it, but as a lover of @buldak_global spicy noodles, this was a tasty treat for me. This drink was a real fridge(cupboard) raid, and honestly it actually banged. Pete says this is "Oily, chocolate, and spicy". So in that sense this is spot on. Just missing the chicken really.

There's a lot to be said about pairing whisky with chocolates, cheeses, fruits, and caviar. Very little do we talk about how incredible a honey, citrus and tropical forward dram, pairs with some salt and spice. @bruichladdich 18 and some pakoras. A match made in heaven 🥃.
