I’m so excited to share Searching For Sound, a personal photographic project I created with sound architect David Andrew @ask4dave exploring the ritual of searching for sound in digging of music. And the spaces, communities that sustain record culture. Through my visual documentary storytelling and David's audio sound storytelling the work follows the physical pursuit of sound. From neighborhood record shops to the people and places that shape musical discovery. Searching For Sound SFS will debut as a photo exhibition immersed with audio hosted by @bangolufsen at their SoHo flagship. By spotlighting essential vinyl shops and the communities that sustain them, the series honors the sacred act of digging for records and preserves the spaces that shape musical discovery from novice to expert. The work exists in deliberate tension with how most photography is consumed today. Instagram rewards the instant glance via the scroll, the double-tap, and the move on. Images are stripped of weight and context, optimized for the two seconds between what came before and what comes next. But a record shop doesn’t reveal itself in two seconds. Neither does a portrait of someone holding a sleeve they’ve hunted for years. This work demands something closer to the act it documents: patience, lingering, a willingness to slow down and let the frame breathe. The tactile reality of vinyl: the heft of a 12”, the wear on a sleeve, the handwritten price sticker. These details carry a narrative tempo that the feed is structurally designed to deny.
