The @logoarchive trend made me do a double take on my visual identity portfolio. While I really enjoyed coming with symbols for logomarks I also realized that a few of my clients chose a wordmark only route, which made sense for them.
Here are some of my logomarks during my years as a graphic designer, some of them stayed in the proposal phase and never saw the light of day until today.
I love seeing my colleagues in the industry sharing their work but I always have some apprehension on sharing mine, but here it is. Keep sharing everybody.

Brand Identity
The team at this new Resto-Bar located in the heart of San Juan del Sur, came to me looking for help in creating a strong, original name and brand for the new business. Surrounded by mostly foreign owned restaurants on one of the busiest streets in town, they needed to stand out as the locally owned option.
First we tackled the naming: Ikal was my proposal. It means "In search of the spirit" in Mayan.
For the symbol itself I borrowed inspiration from Mayan symbols, the letter I and the Sun and Ocean representing the beach town where it's located.
Simple, bold and effective.

Jaguar Lady Mural
By the end of last year I got asked to paint a mural in this lovely garden space for my dad and his wife. They wanted nature and a dragonfly. But other than that they gave me full creative freedom. I wanted to challenge myself by painting a beautiful woman's face, and a jaguar, both notably difficult subjects. I wanted to represent the strength that characterizes the women in our family.
Here is a short video of the process. First time making a reel for Instagram so I would accept any suggestions on how to improve them. I do not like to shoot videos vertically though. 🤣

Güegüense - Mural Flor de Caña

@flordecana_es me comisionó una serie de ilustraciones para murales que representaran la cultura y tradiciones nicaragüenses. Dándole mi propio estilo y mezclando flora y fauna local, esté fue el resultado y mi versión del baile típico del Güegüense.
Finalmente me informaron que el mural sería impreso e instalado en @ikalsanjuan un nuevo bar restaurante en mi pueblo adoptivo de San Juan del Sur, con el cual trabajé recientemente su identidad visual y naming.
