This painting is the first in a series that will be the most personal and intuitive work I’ve created thus far. Emerging purely from my imagination and subconscious, they reflect long-avoided dreams & meditations on fractured identity, and the unraveling of patriarchal concepts.
It was lovely to usher in spring while watching this cactus come to life while a hummingbird moves through for that split-second exchange.
Always chasing that feeling where color, movement, and placement all line up for a second.
Honored to be invited by @redbuttegarden Horticultural Building to create this mural. A Claret Cup Cactus in bloom, visited by a Broad-tailed hummingbird, surrounded by a sea of paintbrush…capturing a fleeting, vital exchange in the desert.
Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.

I painted this mural over the past month on a local business in Salt Lake City called @evrydayconveniences . Working through December and January wasn’t ideal, but a few contractor delays stretched the timeline.
It feels strange to focus on anything right now beyond the violence and corruption in the world. Even so, I hope this piece adds a small moment of beauty, or something colorful and welcoming for people to encounter as they move through their day.
