Fog Clearing Below Geysers Road
Over the last couple years, I have had a number of gallery visitors ask me if I could make a larger print of this photo. Printing my own photos has been an important part of my process, so I have been dragging my feet at going bigger than 17x22. I recently had a client convince me to go big…. I worked with the talented crew at Candela Fine Art Printing in Oakland (@candelafineart ) to make a 26x39 and five 24x36 prints on @cansoninfinity Rag Photographique 310 GSM. The prints are fabulous!

Reflection, Yosemite Falls, 4/28/26
I left my campsite at 4:30am, and watched the progression of the sunrise from tunnel view to the swinging bridge and points between. The sun was just beginning to hit the Ridgeline to the left of the falls, and clouds suddenly appeared in a previously cloudless sky! This is a 3 shot panostitch in @captureone with B/W conversion and burning/dodging in Photoshop/Silver efex/Lumenzia

This oak on geysers road is one of my favorite trees; not only for it’s unique form, but if you are on a bike, it’s at the point where the worst part of a nasty climb is over!

Oak Tree and Aurora in BW, 1/19/2026
Geysers Road near Hawkeye Ranch, Geyserville, CA.
With the desaturation of the aurora color, we are just left with the luminance to provide backlight to the Oak Tree. While the color version is pretty cool, I prefer the drama of the BW. The color is pretty experiential: black to blue to violet; The BW is more visceral: from an eerie form to age old question… what else is out there?!

Floodwaters, Alexander Valley 1/6/2026
After several weeks of dismal weather, the Russian River finally flooded, leaving us cut off from Healdsburg along Alexander Valley Road. Then the rain stopped and we had sun and beautiful puffy clouds which are the background of this image. Cool photos are one of the few good things that arise from flooding.
