Once upon a time when I was 8-yrs-old, they tried to get me to play the violin. But I found my fighting voice that day and stood my ground. I would stick to my original vision and play the viola.
The difference between a violin and viola is size, tone and the music we read. The viola is bigger and has the same strings as a cello, that low C string. Violins have that high E string.
In addition the viola is the only instrument in the world that reads alto clef music. Musically, we speak our own language.
As individuals, violists are known for being misfits, rebels and independent thinkers. 👽

Five years ago was the world premiere of the ELPIS ballet, which was a dance production based on my album of the same name, ELPIS.
Elpis is the Greek goddess of Hope, and was created by Zeus in Greek mythology. She was one of the great evils that Zeus created and placed into Pandora’s Box. The album and ballet is a story about the creation myth of Elpis and Pandora’s Box, and offers a new story about how Hope manages to escape this prison created by Zeus.
To celebrate the five year anniversary of the debut, I’ll be sharing excerpts and stories from the ballet these next few weeks.
Choreographed by Amy Seiwert @aseiwert and featuring the 2019 dancers of the Sacramento Ballet @sacballet , ELPIS featured Austin Meiteen @aus.hole as Prometheus, Ava Chatterson @ava_chat as Pandora, Dylan Keane @kylndn as Zeus and Lauren Winterhalder @lowinterhalder as Elpis. Costume design by @christinedarch .

I wrote a new song. I haven’t composed anything new in months!
The past few years I composed a storm then spent many months recording those tunes… and a few months ago I finished the recordings. I have 15 unreleased songs that I’m preparing for release. Those are coming, indeed — but that is not the point today.
The thing I want to celebrate today is how this new song is marking a new era, and another evolved sound is presently coming out of me. The music was dark, a fierce driving force, and deeply distorted. 😈🖤🙌 #newmusic
I’ve never worked so hard over a Christmas break but it’s official… THE MUSIC IS FINISHED. Mastering is done too. Now, I rest. 😌🥂🎶
